It will be interesting to see how long the yacht sticks around. Although it would be cool to have your very own luxury yacht to tool around the apocalypse in, it doesn't really convey the suffering that is key to this world. But, hopefully we will at least get to answer the age old question, can zombies swim? Obviously they can't swim, but what happens when they end up in the water? Do they just float away or do they walk along the bottom till they reach land? Lets just say I'd be very hesitant to do any swimming in shallow water.
in reality, you could just leave that yacht anchored where it is and hope to ride the whole thing out. Sure it would get boring but you could go ashore when you wanted and see danger from a mile out. They are in a bay so they could even ride out a storm, if it ever actually rains in California again.
I was thinking the same thing. Probably just move it every week or so to avoid detection and pirates. Keep a dingy and wave runners, go ashore to look for supplies. Fish for food.
