Finished it up tonight. Really not sure what I think about the finale. Gotta let it sit for awhile.

The girl who plays Ruth turned into a good actor right before our eyes. Pretty cool to see.

Agreed.

She really brought it throughout season 4.

Yeah she was excellent. Her and Bateman make the show.

Spoil away. What kind of dumbass opens up the Ozark thread without being done watching it?

Fair enough.... I suppose in the big picture it doesn't matter, because they would have killed Ruth eventually, but the way she died was dumb. She pulls up her driveway, it's dark and she's alone. There's a running SUV that matches every SUV the cartel drives around in. She had many choices... 1. Drive away as fast as possible. 2. Call Marty, or someone else for help. 3. Both 1 and 2. She chose option 4, turn car off and walk up to SUV like she thinks it might be her Uber.

Overall, I did like how they wrapped things up. The Byrd's becoming political "royalty" seems like a stretch, but given how sleazy real life is, who knows.

That was something I struggled with as well. Such a weak ending for her. There is no way she just walked up to the SUV like whats up? I kept waiting for her to speed off and it be a little more dramatic. I think we all knew her demise was coming.

Them surviving a roll over crash without hardly a scratch was a bit much as well.

But I think overall I am happy. I liked bringing it back to Jonah with a gun in Buddys backyard.

what they missed was she should have given up the Byrdes. Saying they were there when she killed her son. Then Camilla would have known the Byrdes lied and killed them too.

The kid being a killer at the end was stupid. Maybe Mel survives? They left it open to come back if they ever want to make another season.

I would have omitted the final (off camera) gunshot.

I liked Mel and John Boy and the first cartel guy. Wyatt's gay dad. The FBI agent's mom.

I suppose if they ever choose to do another season (and keep Mel), they could show it as Jonah firing a warning shot.

Mel needs a spin off series. Best character in the show.

SPOILERS

i actually didn't hate the finale, and i wasn't underwhelmed like a lot of people were. i don't think i expected much. but you cannot possibly have been anything but appalled at that absolute cheap pay-off of the car accident. teased in the opening minutes of the first episode of the final season, only revisited in the final half-hour of the finale...and it turns out not only they all survived, but after 2 minutes of being pulled out...it's as if nothing ever even happened. these are the writers who will get to do spin-offs, write other fart-sniffing award-winning shows. if you needed any other proof of how barren the creativity or competent the storytelling is...this is the most shining example.

and of course, the cheap death of ruth. just as how incredulous it was in the 1st season that marty would go from seeing someone's eyes being gouged out to mockingly refer to pablo escobar in front of the cartel runner who ordered it right in front of your face...this was about as dumb as you can get. bereft of a fitting end for ruth, it was empty, and stupid. ruth deserved better to say the least.

but the final scene, i thought was actually good. i liked it. i like that character, too. and i think it's fitting what jonah did. it was the only decent pay off the show did. he was ready to be a byrde.

but this show was squeezed of everything it possibly could, and the fact that there is any talk of any more of this is telling how bad this industry has gotten.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Closing in on the end here. Maybe something will redeem her, but Wendy may be the worst person in tv/movie history.

She makes Grandpa Joe look like a solid family man.

Just finished the finale…dear God that was awful.

What was the last good show with a satisfactory ending? Most of these shows have no idea how to land the plane and it seems more frequent that they don’t even try. They just sort of wrap it up and paint some intellectual veneer on it by way of uncertainty. The closing is intended to be deep but it’s just lazy.

Justified is the best ending of any TV show.

I thought BB ending was solid too.

I don't like Ozarks ending as well as either of those 2.

The series itself shouldn't be in the same conversation with BB or Justified. So expecting a solid ending is unJustified.

Completely agree. I have said that on several occasions. I enjoyed Ozark, but completely get it is a flawed show and not close to BB or Justified

I enjoyed a whole hell of a lot. I enjoyed this last season. If anyone who was disappointed about the way everything went down wants to write an alternative ending, have at it. I think RFDC and W_Z were correct, it was fitting Jonah shot at the PI, bringing it back to his time spent with Buddy. I was pissed Ruth didn't make it. She was a fantastic character. That was tough. In the end though, this was all about the Byrdes. In season 1, no one gave a fuck about the Langmores or any other family in the Ozarks. The Byrdes were trying to stay alive and they did.....so far. Unless a movie is coming out in 2024.

I didn't care much for Season 3, but I liked this show a lot. Every show has to have that one kid that you want to murder. I call it the Caillou Effect.

I haven’t heard anything about a movie but there might be a spin-off series.

I think it’s going to be called Jonahfied.

Overall it was entertaining. I liked all the actors.

The only part of the series I did not like was with Ben Davis. 4-5 episodes that made the show into a drug addict's story. Got away from being Ozarks.

But ya it was entertaining. I wouldn't be surprised if they come back in a few years. Especially the way Netflix is going Netflix may need this show more than ever.
