Nice. Looking forward to seeing it. It will probably be terrible...but Top Gun is one of my favorite movies from the 80s. Every time I see it on I have to watch it.

Concur they need to lose their accreditation.

I mean who the hell gives its pilots something as awesome as an F-14 with the AIM-54 and then tells them to go WVR when the F-14 was built to excel at BVR. If the final dogfight of Top Gun happened in the real world in the 1980s, Maverick would take off, fly within 60 miles of the MiGs and then pick off 6 Phoenix missiles at the 6 separate MiGs. The entire F-14 was designed around that missile. You *can* dog fight with one, but that's not playing to its strengths.

I think the most any single pilot got in the Gulf War was 2 so you'd have to go back to Vietnam for any aces or pilots who shot down at least 3.

I read that there is hardly any CGI and that Cruise learned to fly a jet.
I'm not kidding.
I never saw the original, but this looks petty summer popcorn-y. Any movie with Jennifer Connelly is a good start.
