Never watched SpongeBob. But watched Phineas and Ferb with the kids, great show.

If I had a dollar for every time I watched Ren and Stimpy stoned, way back in the day...I’d have a big ass pile of dollars.

Happy happy joy joy

Oh boy, five bucks.

Dimes!? What does it mean?!

I highly recommend the early Ren and Stimpy

Spongebob is basically just Ren & Stimpy with all the rough edges, and were there ever many, buffed to a sheen. Going back, it's amazing that it ever got on the air, not so much because they were getting away with dirty jokes but because it had an artistic and authorial vision you generally wouldn't associate with children's television.

When Nickelodeon first started producing original animation, the idea was that they'd throw Ren & Stimpy in there as pure mindless excitement, but the real star of the animation block was going to be Doug. Ren & Stimpy not-so-indirectly influenced the most successful show they've ever had. I don't think anyone thinks too much about Doug.

It's great for a snack and it fits on your back.

My sons routinely tell me now how they now laugh at the things that had me rolling on the floor when they were six, seven years old.

And that's with them growing up reading Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes and Big Book of Hell compilations.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I actually scheduled my classes around All My Children.

My then gf did, and the Young and the Restless, which meant that I did as well. I don't think that it raised an eyebrow back then.

I have a DVD of the old "Droopy" cartoons, unedited. Talk about non-PC content!

If I came across a block of the original Tom and Jerry cartoons, I'd have to watch more than a few.

Firedogs, Space Madness, and The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen are still favorites.

A song from the latter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7hVjZHp6YQ
