IMO X-Men First class was better than Avengers.

Have yet to see it. Only X-Men movie I didn't see.

Not difficult to accomplish.

C'mon, son! What about the original Spiderman Trilogy?

1 was fine, 2 was pretty good, 3 sucked balls.

They were all bad.

I don't get the hate on it .... they took two villians and synthesized a decent enough one .... a metric fuckload better than the rape job on The Manchurian. Maybe not out and out better than the first ... I'll go with equal footing but not worse and most certainly not awful.

Assuming you mean Mandarin, have you seen the new Mandarin short coming out with the new Thor DVD? Pretty fucking exciting conclusion.

Yes that's what I meant ... don't tell Larry I mistyped that ... I saw it but either I had a stroke at the end of it or I don't remember it ... doesn't really matter to me ... I wanted Ben Kingsley specifically to play that villian specifically and I got nothing but did not like it ... plus I don't go to a superhero movie for interpersonal, introspective character development for fuck's sake.

Name one memorable thing about any of the first 3 Spiderman movies.

Oh ... I thought you meant the Iron Man movies.

The casting and executiong of Dr. Octopus was top notch. The only thing better was J. Jonah Jameson. There was a cameo by Jim Norton, too.

I pretty much thought every other casting decision up to and including Tobey Maguire was for shit. Maybe not Aunt May. And if Kirsten Dunst caught fire in front of me my only regret would be not taking a good enough picture of it; she has the sex appeal of a praying mantis and the emotional acting range of an autistic child.

The movies, as you indicated, were not memorable. I have not seen the first one from the reboot ... I will at some point I'm sure, I just don't plan on making any huge effort to do so.

I saw the first Iron Man and have not seen any of the rest of the "Avengers Universe" Marvel movies. The Avengers do nothing for me.

Iron Man isnt a hero, he's driving a vehicle.
Hulk cant even control his power
Captain America is a roided up zealot
Thor is a god. If you are a god you shouldn't need to team up with a bunch of human hacks.

I dont get it....

So why would the Hulk ever turn into the Hulk if he can control it? Just be a normal scientist forever...

Thor isnt a Norse God? Must have missed that one for the last 30 years.

In Avengers, Hulk can control it.

You didn't watch the same Avengers we all did.

Hulk was completely uncontrollable until the last 10 (?) minutes of the almost 3 hour movie.

Hulk was controlled the entire movie except the one outburst, which was fueled by Loki's sceptor and an attack. The "secret" is that he can turn into Hulk whenever he wants. He's controlled it a lot more.

Thor is considered a god because humans call him that. He's not actually a god. In the new Thor, they even mock humans for thinking that, and explain they aren't gods.

It was surprisingly good. I had zero expectations but now I'll keep it on if I see it on TV. Magneto's backstory was very good.

Bruce Banner was controlled. And there were several times the other Avengers tred lightly around Banner during the movie.

Except when Iron Man pokes him with a sharp object. But yea, they don't know his "secret" which is that he is "always angry." He can turn into Hulk whenever he wants.

IM2 was dumb. A guy with an electric whip...C'mon,take his ass out long range.

Can't. The guy with the whip was a IM villain from the 60s. Of course, Hawkeye was an IM villain from the 60s. What's more irritating: a guy tearing chunks out of the armor an admittedly metallic whip, or the other guy shooting arrows into the eye slots?

Which is why... you're selective about 60s villains. After all a favorite is circus where the ringmaster hypnotizes the crowd and the clown go in to lift the wallets. Incredible Hulk villains, this circus of crime...

I think a number of us spoke highly of Capt America 2 as a really good movie that even people not into cape movies could, imo likely would, enjoy.

THIS movie, however, .... well, if you go see it and don't walk away having been fairly well entertained, it's because you're (a) a real honest-to-God dullard, and (b) kind of a piece of shit as a human being.

Seriously. There's no sensible reason not to enjoy what this film is ... and perhaps what this mini-franchise could turn into. It's the kind of thing where I'd be surprised to not see some degree of clamoring for cameos from both the acting and music communities to be part of the next one.

You don't have to have the first idea about who anyone is, was, or will be. Just accept what you're seeing and go with it. This is all you have to keep in mind from start to finish. "Just take it."

It makes Dave Bautista fucking funny. Your curiosity should be piqued enough at that prospect alone to go plink your money down on the counter.

Vin Diesel is a fucking tree ... an entertaining, endearing CGI tree with a vocabulary that literally does not need the full compliment of digits on one normal human hand to count yet communicates more emotion than half of Hollywood's roster.

There's got to be at least a half-dozen times (maybe closer to a full dozen) where you just have to laugh and say "what they fuck am I seeing/hearing". Even if you can make it through the full movie without doing so, you cannot possibly stay for the post credits scene and still resist the urge to do so.

I will say that I saw kids there at a 9pm showing (for a 2hr film) that imo had no business being at this movie. Will they have emotional scarring from watching it in a movie theater? No, but really ... I mean ... I don't know. Just use your heads people. It's not Saw, but it's also not the fuckin' Muppets Take Manhattan either. Never mind that the fucks wanted to play Q&A with their idiot kid all night through the movie ... I mean, black people would've been ashamed at how much talking this outfit did throughout the film. STILL, a most pleasant time was had in spite of that nonsense.

If you have something important to do with your time, do attend to it of course. If you don't have anything better to do or don't know what to go see, don't be a fucking idiot and not see this. It'll be nice as a home release of course, but there's enough to this thing to deserve to be seen in an actual, proper theater. I don't know that IMAX and/or 3D would be worth the extra shekels; maybe to you they would be ... I don't happen to think so.

It's hard for me to grasp a person not at least liking the movie ... you don't have to love it ... I don't know that I loved it ... but it was just damned entertaining, which is all movies are supposed to be last time I checked.

I was thoroughly entertained by this and I had a feeling I would be once I saw that James Gunn's name was attached as director. There are very few miscues here and the cast is perfect. out of the corner of my eye i swore i saw lloyd kaufman, and lo and behold it was him (as an inmate in the prison).

it is a very fun film. good summer entertainment. gunn's sense of humor shines through here, through all the big heavy special effects, his sarcasm is reflected well by the source material. seems like the comic book and him at the helm of this project went hand in hand.

one of my favorite lines came from drax: "nothing goes over my head. i would catch it immediately."

the droll delivery of his lines is perfect, especially since he has no self awareness. really well done film and one of the best comic book films besides "the avengers" in years.

:D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

It's funny, knowing Bautista I was worried how he would come off in a movie. He is such a stiff, I wasn't sure he could play a character. Of course, that played absolutely perfectly into Drax. Ended up being a fantastic character.

this movie was genetically engineered to be anything but unlikeable. the visual effects people did a great job of setting up an immerse universe that felt like it had a bit more scale than, say, chronicles of riddick or even firefly/serenity (which had to be the underlying example of why this "thing" would work).

everyone/everything was pretty, there was the USDA mandated daily dose of humor, and they didnt harp on the inevitable dead parent/s of the main characters too much. oh and of course they're setting up the infinity gauntlet in the bigger picture so heyyyyy now. jolly good show.
