Seems the GR is like the group that is just destined to death or go missing, thus they dont do anything, just smoke all day because nothing matters.

What I dont get is their proactive actions to 'recruit" people. They are more active than d Rose!

A creator and writer from "Lost" has his paws on this. Should be awful. Lost sucked.

What the hell was this? This was one of the more bizarre and disjointed things I've ever seen. I've got a very bad feeling about this show. I'll give it another chance but my guess is that this show will basically be a mashup of shocking moments built around a very generic storyline.

My wife and I just finished the first episode 5 minutes ago,
and I never saw any episode of Lost, so I don't know this guy's style,
but this was definitely interesting. It's going on Season Pass on the DVR.
I'm hooked.
Amy Brenneman used to be so hot, though......
I remember reading a quote in Details or some shit from back in her NYPD Blue days
when she said she preferred Bass Ale to fucking..........

Well, I caught episode two last night and the weirdness continues. I don't think the acting is necessarily bad,
the story just doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet. I was happy to see the cameo there by Scott Glenn as
the main characters dad. I will give it a few more episodes to see if anything actually happens.

I'm with you.

The thing that concerns me is that LOST was pretty awesome right from the start and was for the whole first season. I was already bored with this show by the second episode. The only hope is that it is taking a while for them to setup the interesting things.

I never saw a minute of LOST so I really don't have any expectations. I know they tend to drop in some of their
weaker stuff this time of the summer. I figured it would be an odd series but this thing really hasn't gone anywhere
in 2 hours and 15 minutes of air time, so that is a bit frustrating. I'll give it a little more time. Obviously his dad is
a little crazy but he did reference that guy who is trying to help him kill the dogs. I thought the guy was imaginary
until the girls came home and took the beer from him.

Yeah the dog hunter weirdo is an especially weird part of the story and it has the feeling that the writers don't even know what they're doing with it.

Pretty strange show. Interesting that they used an entire episode on what had been a pretty minor character. I can see why a lot of people don't like this but I'm enjoying it for some reason and I'm not even sure why.

I thought the same thing. I had to look it up.

Me too, but when I saw what it was I remembered they mentioned it once or twice in the first two.

I assume the rubbing it out portion wasn't part of it since he asked if she minded if he did it? I didn't understand what was going on in that scene, other than the obvious, nudity and masturbation.

Take into account what had happened with everyone disappearing.... The teens are in a very strange place.

Yeah, I guess. It was a tad more hedonistic than my old high school parties.

That was the first thing I thought.

Exaggerated and more like a college party, imo

And I dont think a girl would just go FUCK because of a spin the bottle app

I feel the same way, like I am getting sucked in for some reason. I guess I just like to see what is going to happen.
I watched the scenes from the rest of the season at the end of the episode and there is plenty ahead. I have no
fault at all with the acting, the story is just strange. The episode was pretty good. I guess I am not completely
sure where the money under the grill came from. Was that some bribe money that the guy got from the previous
priest? If anyone can shed any light on that for me that would be great.

Edit -- after doing some reading the money was bribe money from a judge ( not a priest ) whose story was
wrapped around the peanut butter jar before he got the money out.

Ok, so I think its safe to say that the departed people will be coming back or at least there will be some flashbacks with them based on a big clue from this week's episode. Hope someone can find a screen capture cause when the priest went to his sister's house, there was a picture of her family on the fridge and I swear the dad was this guy....

Image

He's the actor from House of Cards and some other recent stuff, becoming a pretty well known actor. I seriously doubt they would cast him to play the departed husband if it was only to put a picture of him on the fridge. Gotta mean he is either coming back at a later date or there will be some flashbacks in future episodes.

Or I just smoked too much weed and it wasn't him in the photo, but I'm pretty sure it was.

yep, I'm right, it's him. So now the only question is....flashback or comeback?

btw, great catch by me!

Is there any nudity on this show?

about as brief as you could have got in Episode 1. The flashed to some either sublimal or rememberance or dream sex scene maybe 3 or 4 times and each time it was literally .5 seconds.

Of course, they used that same .5 to promo the show for the past month. lol

Anyone else continuing to stick with this show? The weirdness continued last night. Pretty brutal opening
scene with the stoning of the woman. Really have no clue who is responsible unless I missed some clues.
I wasn't paying complete attention so I may rewatch later this week.

I think anyone who sticks with this will regret it. I'm about to jump off.

This is just like another LOST. At least LOST was really good at the start. This hasn't had one memorable thing about it.

It's becoming obvious why they threw this out there in the summer. It seems to be one of the weakest HBO shows in recent memory.

This was episode 5 of 10 so if you are going to bail this is likely the time to do it. I'm going to stick it out
because I like to torture myself. I'm also ashamed to admit I am forcing myself to watch the last season
of True Blood. Last year was really bad and this season hasn't been much better but since I had watched
from the beginning I wanted to finish it out.

I don't watch it, no HBO, but from what I have seen "True Blood" has great music.

When the music playing during the credits is one of the best things a show has going for it, you probably shouldn't
watch the show. This has been the case with True Blood the last few seasons.

I think its the kid working at the register (forgot what type of store it was, might've been a gas station), he asked the chief if they had figured out who was responsible. If I've learned anything from my years of watching tv, if some nobody shows an interest in a crime he obviously did it.

Regarding the show in general. I'm starting to think that I'm the only person who really loves this show. My wife isn't sure, the people in this forum aren't sure, but I really enjoy it.

I really enjoy this show. I still am not sure why. I like the 3rd episode the best. The preacher guy is an interesting character.

I don't hate it, just very skeptical I am going to be kicking myself for watching when it finishes.
Kinda what Rick is saying right now. I will stick it out and see how it ends up. I enjoy most of
the acting.

I thought for a second they were gonna really fuck up last episode by having Laurie ditch the GR at the end. She would have instantly become 10x less interesting.

My only big criticism is the teenagers in the show. It's like whoever is writing them doesn't actually know what being a high schooler is like so is just writing the most extreme angst ridden stereotypes possible.

Loved the ending with her blowing the whistle, that was great.

Disagree about the kids....you and I have no idea what its like to live in a world where at any moment millions of people can disappear with no explanation. The GR has given us a clue as to how some people have decided that the world is basically pointless so who gives a shit. If adults are acting like that just imagine the who gives a fuck attitude that teenagers would have? I think the writers have done a great job creating this unique world.

I really liked that episode as well but I think next week's is gonna be even better cause it focuses on the Reverend's sister. She's my favorite/most interesting character on the show. Can't wait to see what her deal is.

I get the angle they were going for, I just don't think it's working. They managed to make a group like the GR seem realistic in this world. I don't think they've done the same thing with the kids.
