Oh yeah, and this isn't really that important, but it's kind of funny. The apes in the zoo fucked with Caesar because he wore pants and most apes are proud panstless cretins. But Caesar, being smarter than the average ape, befriended the baddest fucking Silverback in the zoo and also the next smartest ape, an orangutan who knew sign language from his days in a circus.

An ape with pants? Whoever heard of such a thing!? I would have been throwing banana peels at him too.

You forgot about the part where John Lithgow fights Denzel Washington at the end. That part came out of nowhere...

Just don't send any texts while in the theater.

Ended up catching Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie On Demand over the weekend at home and decided to
take the plunge and catch this as a matinee. I enjoyed the prior movie alright and since the commercials really
had me hooked with the special effects I figured why not. I also plunked down the extra dough to see it in 3D.
I had never seen a movie in 3D before, and overall I could take it or leave it. I would have been just as happy
seening it regularly.

Anyway, it was a pretty enjoyable movie overall. The apes look much more realistic than the previous movie
that was only released like 3 years ago. The action was pretty awesome and the storyline wasn't all that bad.
I have no idea where they will go after this but it certainly appears that there will be another in the series the
way they left things. It was the exact type of summer movie I was in the mood for and thought it was worth
the trip to the theater ( 3D not withstanding ).

i was extremely impressed with this one. i didn't care much for "rise"...thought it was just kind of unnecessary apart from some good moments, mostly coming from andy serkis' performance. he's excellent here, too, and it's really time for the academy to start recognizing him and give him a supporting actor nomination. i really liked the human family (keri russell and jason clarke in particular) as well. the movie had a very nice balance and wasn't afraid to have patience with the progression of the story.

there are some very nice quiet moments and some good social commentary (even though we're all familiar by now as to what the whole "apes" franchise is all about). it's a good movie...but i also saw it in 3-D and it was a waste of the extra cash. but it was just playing at a more reasonable time for me to see it.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Agreed on a possible Oscar nod for Serkis. Caesar's performance was very impressive. My date also liked Clarke
in his role and I really couldn't disagree, could be someone to watch in the next few years.

Not film related but I detest chimpanzees and bonobos. People think they are so goddamn cute doing all these human things or how wondrous it is they use tools. I just get uneasy watching them knowing how intelligent, strong, violent, and quick they are. Fuckers gave us HIV, too.

Even the most ardent chimp-hater will make an exception for this little guy: Detective Chimp Bobo...!

There was even a baseball-themed story (no, it didn't involve Bill Veeck signing him as a promotional stunt!).
