Seeing some of these people "perform" make me think I have a better singing voice than I actually do. Some of them look and perform like a fish out of water on stage.

Yea, I've actually cringed at a bunch of performances this year. That girl who sang With Arms Wide Open last night could not have been more sharp if she tried. Brutal.

A majority of the guys really stepped up their games last night. The
competition really seems to be rounding out nicely. I don't see any
huge breakout stars at this point, but things could potentially change
in the next few months. I didn't understand what all the fawning was
about over the last guys performance. It was good but to have one
of the judges crying had me laughing.

That crying was ridiculous. If I were Kara's husband I'd look out. That girl wants a baby.

I listened to that song over though and I still don't know what it's about.

Yeah, very bizarre. What is with her and Cowell cuddling all the time and
sitting super close behind the desk?

The crying was absurd. I also did not get the song or why it was so good. Kara is becoming Paula more and more each week. The over the top make up and outfits and the bizarre behavior - soon People will have a secret alcoholic story on her and the transformation will be COMplete (/Emperor Palpatine voice)

I was mostly okay with the 4 that got voted off last night. I wish the 15 year old guy was gone though and the dude with the mullet stayed. He wore that thing proudly and I actually really liked his voice.

Yeah, I am ok with the choices. I thought that platinum blonde girl
should have stayed over the young girl. Things will start to get a
bit more interesting now. Was sorry to see mullet guy go but he
was a bit too timid for his own good. Had a very unique voice
though so maybe he'll keep working at it.

Watched last night as the covered Rolling Stones tunes. I did not think any one of them really stood out. It was..."just ok".

Agreed. I was really hoping for Lee and Crystal to shine but they didn't. They weren't bad by any means, just my expectations were really high for them to do good things with the material. The Siobhan chick is good but something about her just annoys the hell out of me. And the fact they compare her to Adam Lambert doesn't help because I can't stand that guy either.

Yeah..the Lambert/Siobhan thing seems more about theatrics than singing competition. Maybe it is the local slant or whatever...but I am sort of pulling for Lee D.

Stones night was worse than Johnny Cash night last year.
Urban's "under my thumb" was the exact reason that so many people hate Idol.

I'm glad I watch this show on dvr so I can fast forward through all the crap. Last night was TERRIBLE. IMO, they could just give the title to that Bowersox chic and get it over with. It is shame because the last couple of years there was some really good talent. This year...not so much.

I DVR it and start watching about an hour into as well. You can already tell who is
going to be in the top 5 or 6, so the next month should be pretty weak. There were
some really bad song choices last night which didn't help quite a few of the contestants.
I am guessing the balck girl will be going home, although you could make a case for one
or two others out there.

That was a train wreck last night. For as much "talent" as they said they had during Hollywood Week they sure didn't pick the ones that translate well to this type of stage. And Tim Urban is the new Sanjaya - he'll stick around because of the 12 year old girl vote.

Final 3 will be Crystal, Lee, and Siobhan.

You are probably right here, but I think the big black dude has a shot as well. He can bring it, and seems to get overlooked a lot.

The next month does seem like a waste, because there are a fairly obvious last 5 or 6, so it's really just which order the others leave up to that point.

Without DVR, there is no way I'm watching the show. 11 people singing for 2.5 or 3 minutes, followed by +/-2 minutes of judges makes about 50 minutes. Yet the show is on for 2 hours. This is the first season I've watched most of it, are all the shows 2 hours or do they go to 1 hour once a couple more get cut?

I believe they go to one hour once they get to the final 6 or so
but I could be wrong. They stuff a lot of fluffy crap in there
like performances from past contestants hoping to push their
albums, faux Ford commercials with them singing, etc...

Simon was right. Last night was horrible. They should just give the win to Chrystal and shut this thing down.

Simon was more spot on when he told that millions of people do what she does outside of subway stations every day.

She's good, but nothing certainly nothing new or out of the ordinary.

Idol was better two years ago, seriously.

You may have noticed a change in plans last night on "American Idol". The contestants were supposed to perform songs made famous by teen idols last night, but the remaining 11 performed Billboard #1 hits instead. Tonight, I don't know if it'll be a Mickey Mouse operation with Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas all scheduled to perform live on the results show at 8p on FOX32HD.

First of all he said thousands, not millions.
I'm not even sure that there are millions of subway stations out there.

Secondly, just because thousands of people do it, doesn't necessarily mean that any of them do it as well as she does. There are millions of people playing guitar everyday, doesn't mean that many of them will be able to make a living at it, and even less of them will ever play anything original or out of the ordinary.

So far this season Chrystal ,almost every week, and Casey James ,when he's doing his Kenny Wayne Sheppard shtick, are the only two contestants whose record I'd consider buying.
Lee is Ok, but he needs a band behind him, and Siobhan looks to me like a punk rock chick that should be fronting a ska/punk band (think No Doubt pre Tragic Kingdom).

The girl that got voted off this week had, what had to be, the single worst performance by anybody (that wasn't a novelty like Sanjaya) in the history of that show for a final 12 contestant.

It was weird. It was like she forgot how to sing.

no, i think john stevens has that beat; i believe...when they got to the top 10, and he sang "crocodile rock" in the 3rd season.

that was total embarrassment.
