I don't understand how people do not like this movie. It's amazing.

I like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for some of the same type of reasons.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof? Is that like Cat in a Burlap Sack?

Well done. I may have made too general of a statement. There are a few good Black & White movies...

Nah not you, you never paint with too broad a brush and look like a complete douchenozzle.

Here's a little known fact: The preliminary cut of It's a Wonderful Life that was presented to the the Motion Pictures Producers and Distributors Association (the precursor to the modern MPAA) contained more expletives than Casino.

Surprised that some people actually think this is a bad movie. Go ahead and say its average, but bad?

One of the all-time classics and a great story as described earlier by good dolphin.

Do you know how long it takes a working man to save five thousand dollars? Just remember this, Mr. Potter, that this rabble you're talking about... they do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath? Anyway, my father didn't think so. People were human beings to him. But to you, a warped, frustrated old man, they're cattle. Well, in my book he died a much richer man than you'll ever be.

The Three Stooges and Little Rascals are both great black and white movies.

Except the Stooges made shorts. What few movies they made were awful.

12 Angry Men is awesome.
Baltimore? Christ, thats like getting hit in the head with a crowbar twice a week.

This movie holds a special place in my heart as my dads name was Clarence.

Sure, Jimmy Stewart acting is a bit over the top, but the premise of never being born and seeing the impact you had on others is pretty heavy duty.

I also enjoyed seeing a grown up Alfalfa before he got killed.

George running through the town after getting his life back is one of my favorite scenes ever, and anyone that doesnt like it or gives me shit for it can fuck right off :)

I love that scene, too, BR17.

Some of my favorite old movies:

On the Waterfront
The Philadelphia Story
The Big Sleep
The Apartment
The Flight of the Phoenix
Swing Time
Beat the Devil
All About Eve
Sunset Boulevard
The Lost Weekend
His Girl Friday

Some guy named Hitchcock made a few good movies, too. He was a pretty big racist, though.

I have It's A Wonderful Life on DVD and will probably watch it once or twice before Christmas. Everyone, except Krazy Ivan, is welcome to hang out and watch.

I havent, and wont, read pages 2 and 3 here but black and white works well in certains situations.

Loved how it was used in American History X

Frank, the "Three Stooges" shorts featuring whiny Joe Besser that were made by Columbia Pictures, circa 1956 & 1957, are ones that Stooge fans can't stand...

"Attack" and "The Story of GI Joe" were a pair of very-moving war movies.
The yellow streak of Eddie Albert's character made the anger of Palance and others burst through the screen.
Just knowing that actual GIs were part of the cast for the Ernie Pyle bio bring heart-wrenching sadness to the final scene.
I still laugh out loud when "My Man Godfrey" comes on. Love me some Thin Man.
"Miracle on 34th Street" is another quality holiday flick. Natalie Wood is downright adorable in the flick.
Can't forget about Cody Jarrett ("White Heat"). Crazy with a capital "C".
How about the original "Manchurian Candidate"? Jessica Fletcher was one mean mutha.
Then there's "Pride of the Yankees". "Lou, Lou, Lou, Gehrig, Gehrig, Gehrig".

This movie is still great, but Bailey being a subprime mortgage lender twisting Potter's arm for looser and looser credit just doesn't feel exactly...right anymore.

The arm-twisting took place because some good-for-nothing ass didn't come forward about some misplaced cash.
