you gotta love the oscars' shameless comedy exploits. let's get the two quirky comics that are popular now and give them some quirky dialog and some cymbals. that'll be funny! right?

to present an award that has two nominees...

I just flipped back. Did Oprah just win a career-achievement type of award???? Surely she did not.

Yeah, but brace yourself:

John Travolta said he would give her a second Oscar for her acting.

Seeing that goofy picture of Terrence Malick when they were announcing best director made my night.

Oh. Um. She had that one role in that one movie. 25 years ago.

So. Yeah..................Sheesh. No other actor is under appreciated at this point???

"the iron lady" seemed like a better movie than it probably was. i had interest in a film about thatcher but not in the way they did it in this one...but streep's the real deal.

It's extremely arrogant to say "half the audience is like 'ugh, not her again'.....".

When you are saying it about yourself. :?

Because 90 percent of the audience was thinking it?

I think it was supposed to be aw shucks-y but it came out the opposite.

I'm glad The Artist won. The director reminds me of Peter Lorre. That's not why I'm glad it won, those were two separate thoughts.

it is a known fact that the best actress award is the most insufferable award given out. you want to talk about the stereotype of the melodramatic woman.

it is the facebook status we hate hearing about.

it's the gossip being spread at the office water cooler.

it's the audience member in a day time talk show standing up and asking that question and making that statement.

it's the front runner of that group who has to make that statement about violent video games and gay porn.

it's the centerfold who's gotten too old but still must save the seals.

just mute and smile at how over the top they all get. it's funny if you do it that way.

So why the standing ovation for Octavia Spencer? Because she played a maid so well? typical Hollywood patronizing a minority actor. The Oscars overall sucked and to my surprise so did Billy Crystal. He wanted "safe" material. I need my hosts to be "edgy". Crystal was weak overall. The Artist looks like an interesting movie and the awards may be well deserved. I feel Mission Impossible should have been nominated for Movie of the Year,it was that good. I saw Moneyball,it was "meh" at best.
Started great but went on too long, just like the Oscars. BTW, is Michelle Williams a Lesbian? She keeps showing up to award shows with the horse faced actress from Cougar Town.

I agree. I swear, there is no award of the evening that is so fucking overhyped than this. My god, even the best pic award isn't given this much weight and it's way more important.

when has billy crystal ever been edgy? the oscars don't want edgy. every time they've had that, they nix the host. letterman will never host again; most likely, neither will jon stewart. they want safe.

One word to describe that show: Boring.

Chris Rock was funny.
I like Ferrell and Galifianakis so I liked that.
Billy Crystal was as expected.

The sound was terrible.
The stupid "Let's have actors tell us how much they love the movies like it's some sort of amazing information that literally every actor went to the movies as a kid" was as stated earlier in the sentence, stupid.
Too many movies that when I looked at the footage and said "I don't look forward to watching that movie". Even a movie like War Horse, which should be something I'd like, is probably just about some horse almost dying about 15 times until it eventually dies saving it's owner and it gets some medal.

Is it out of line to think that the combined offerings of HBO and FX are better than the combined offerings of the best picture nominees for the past year?
