Why not?

Got enough timely-wimely with the Tardis story. He shoots through a hole in time to throw a do-wop to himself, with a "big friendly button." All solved now! Except there's a lot of truncated time lines out there with dead/dying doctors and/or companions. (Next episode: League of Denied Timelines Attack!!!)

The Cybermen episode wasn't bad.

I did enjoy the Doctor-Clever interactions.

Looks like The Doctor's name is revealed in the finale next week.

Doctor Who' finale 'The Name of the Doctor' leaked in US error
Published Sunday, May 12 2013, 3:27pm EDT | By Sam Rigby | 78 comments

Next week's Doctor Who finale 'The Name of the Doctor' has been leaked.

The episode is featured on the Series 7 Part 2 Blu-ray release, which was accidentally dispatched early to fans in the US over the weekend.

It emerged earlier today (May 12) that fans who had pre-ordered the boxset in the US had received the Blu-ray before the final two episodes of the current series had been transmitted.

Edward Russell, the BBC Brand Manager for Doctor Who, tweeted about the incident and urged those who had received the episodes to not spoil other fans.

He posted: "Production error in US means DW bluray shipped early. Let's hope no one spoils it for those who want to enjoy it together on Sat. Please RT."

The show's official Twitter account has also posted a message concerning the leak. They too urged fans to consider the enjoyment of others before posting spoilers.

They tweeted: "Some US DVDs of this series have gone out early. The #DoctorWho team would be hugely grateful if fans helped keep spoilers off the net."

They continued: "Steven Moffat has promised if fans help keep the finale's secrets, we'll release a special video featuring Matt & David right after the ep!"

A three-minute prequel for 'The Name of the Doctor' was released by the BBC following the conclusion of last night's episode 'Nightmare in Silver'. It features the Doctor (Matt Smith) and Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) admitting how little they know of each other.

Executive producer Steven Moffat has teased the finale episode, saying that the episode will "change the course of Who forever".

It is thought that the episode will directly lead in to the 50th anniversary special episode, which is scheduled to air on November 23.

'The Name of the Doctor' airs next Saturday (May 18) at 7pm on BBC One.

The Cybermen episode was good. Although I'd say it really stretched my suspension of belief that the Doctor would be all "nah let's not drop off the kids for their safety first while I investigate this planet with Cybermen" then I remembered he's a douche like that. Thank god they had that reveal where it showed a Cyberpiece was still floating in space, otherwise I'd just assume they were really dead this time.

These monsters never die. Even if you don't see the debris, you know they're floating away for another day.

The bit about the upgrades is kind of cool. Upgrading past the vulnerability to gold struck me as wrong, but then again, that was something the original Cybermen from Mondas had: so long as they're following a tract of assimilating enemies, it's hard to continue claiming all these other species in cybersuits also have this problem. And yes, damn, they're getting more Borg-like (although the Borg arguably are Cybermen-like; one was introduced in '66, the other wasn't)

It's the same sort of thing as with the Ponds: Doctor appears on Wednesdays for adventures, then leaves Clara with the kids. Well, why not: been doing that since Eccleson.

Re: the Doctor's name. It's "Sylvester." He's been playing chess with us all this time, since 1963.

I liked the season finale.

The mystery of Clara and how she was an impossible girl was explained, and I enjoyed the clips of the old Doctors.

And then the end. Sweet.

Can't wait til November.

T'was good. Still feel like recent episodes have been a little too rushed/too much crammed in at once, but still good.

The story was kind of all over the place, and I would've liked to see some Clara-Great Intelligence interaction in the past.

Still good.

I'm trying to figure out how Dirty Dutch Mantell became a time lord?

This is sort of following Amy Pond storyline. "The Girl Who Waited," the next year she was a normal companion (except for Rory.) How this works out for Clara, who the hell knows?

 @ Dirty Dutch as a Time Lord

There's lots of theories running about.

One rumour is that John Hurt will be the real Ninth Doctor.

John Hurt can be explained in a few ways. He could be the ninth; he could be the Valyard

spoiler here

matt smith is gone by christmas. the bbc has announced it so now the rumors of the x-mas special being called "twelfth night" are seemingly apropos.... so who's doc 12? lots of people are on gallifrey base saying it's ben daniels, who would give you your first openly gay doctor (if matt smith doesn't count anyways) however i'm much a fan of this article cuz it has my first choice... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22745398

that's right, idris motherfucking elba. get stringer "luther" bell up in there. we've already got luther series 3 coming in sept (and alice better fucking feature into this one. series 2 wasn't horrible but it wasn't quite like series 1) and well, obviously, it won't happen cuz that'd be way too fucking awesome.

I like Matt Smith but I've also kind of grown tired of the sameness of his Doctor.

I'd pop like it was Bash at the Beach '96 if Idris Elba was the next Doctor.

Alas, it is unlikely.

And I agree about Luther season 3. Alice needs to be prominent.

I figured Smith would last thru next year, and that's it. So if he leaves on the anniversary show, that'll be cool and dramatic.

In my world, you cast a black woman or the guy who plays the vampire in 'Being Human'. Although, yes, the werewolf guy is pretty good, too.

Or for Sini, the chick from Torchwood. In leathers, with a bazooka. You get her, then I want the werewolf guy as the companion.

Sean Pertwee!! Sure, and let's consider David Troughton, too.

Doctor Who fans await announcement

Matt Smith will leave the series in this year's Christmas special
Fans are eagerly awaiting the news of who will be unveiled as the new star of Doctor Who later.

The announcement on who will replace actor Matt Smith will be made during a special live show on BBC One.

Zoe Ball will host the programme, which will feature an interview with the new 12th Doctor as well as contributions from stars who have played previous incarnations of the Time Lord.

Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor will be on at 19:00 BST.

Smith and executive producer Steven Moffat will be among those appearing on the live show to give the new recruit advice, as well as Peter Davison, who played the fifth Doctor.

There will also be a video message from sixth Doctor Colin Baker and former companions Katy Manning, Anneke Wills, Janet Fielding and Bonnie Langford.

Speculation on who would take over the role has been rife since Smith announced in June that he would be leaving the sci-fi series later this year.

It has been reported that only 10 people know the new Doctor's identity, as bosses attempt to keep it a secret.

Bookmakers suspended betting on The Thick Of It star Peter Capaldi taking the role after his odds fell to 5/6 favourite.

Other stars named as possible contenders include Ben Daniels, Rory Kinnear, Idris Elba and Daniel Rigby, although some female stars have also been touted.

However celebrity photographer Rankin appeared to confirm a male actor had been cast in the role after tweeting: "Just photographed the next Dr Who for tonight's announcement. Let me know what you think of the photo? He's going to be an ace Dr."

On Friday, BBC drama controller Ben Stephenson said: "We can't wait to unveil the next Doctor with everyone live on BBC One.

"Amongst all the speculation and betting, there has been lots of fun and intrigue at work as we've been using the codename Houdini as a decoy.

"It's the biggest secret in showbiz, even those working with the new Doctor on other projects at the moment have no idea they are in the presence of the 12 incarnation."

Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor.

He was in the episode Fires of Pompeii.

Meh.

Peter Capaldi's character in World War Z was W.H.O. Doctor.
