Now I am starting to get a little anxious about this thing moving forward. This episode was pretty slow and boring. One note of slight interest...

A 30-minute special introducing a new second season character will be released online and aired in chapters during commercial breaks of The Walking Dead. The story will be about the outbreak's effect on an airplane flight

I'm guessing this was the plane they showed flying overhead that seemed to be wavering a bit in the air near the end of the episode.

I didn't think it was slow. I think this was my favorite episode.

but again, liberal Hollywood agenda out in full force. That riot looked like something you would see in Europe during a world economic summit. You just couldn't possibly show LA to be anything but a white, hipster city downtown but a bastion of diversity in the suburbs.

Now that we are a few episodes in I think it is safe to say that most of these characters are too stupid to live in this world. The older guy from the barber shop had to rip a shotgun away and kill someone because everyone else is sitting there saying "Eat me".

Oh, and of course they forgot the shotgun shells and had to run back to get them and the girl goes rogue and does it all on her own without anyone knowing. It's not like those would be important.

You have to give them some leeway. 5 days ago they wouldnt have touched a gun.

Think about Carol in the beginning of TWD versus Carol now

I believe that was their fourth direct contact with a zombie who is trying to eat them. It's time to step it up.

 I think you are both right. The fans of TWD are a bit jaded watching these newbs figure it out.

The dad saying "you're sick" to the one guy was bad. The forgetting shells etc, Ill allow it for now.

They still think the military is gonna save them.

They don't know there's no coming back from the zombie's "sickness". Most people would probably balk at shooting their neighbor in the face, except Rick and his smoking neighbors.

They should have a pretty darn good idea after the end of the first episode that there is no getting back to normal.

No way man.

You gotta erase TWD from your brain and go back to a non zombie world. And remember, its been only a few days.

The guy is covered in blood from a neighbor. They caught him either eating or blowing a german shepherd. Either way he should be put down

Why didn't they just stay in the house to begin with? The wife knows something big is happening. To go out at night, unarmed, is stupid. But, if they do go, shut the fucking door.

So, you blow your neighbor's head off in your living room with a shotgun and bury him sloppily in your backyard.

But, you still think society is intact enough to pick up your garbage?

Not sure if it's been discussed earlier in this thread, but apparently the concept of zombies does not exist within the pop culture universe of FTWD or TWD.

Yes, that is well known. But, apparently Brick would still know that he was in the middle of a zombie outbreak 3 days into it. People getting sick, attacking other people and being almost immune to bullets...definitely jump to the conclusion that we are dealing with uncureable zombies as opposed to something more realistic like a rabbies type virus or something like that.

I don't care if it is cureable or not. I'm not standing there waiting to get eaten. They've had direct contact with at least four zombies who have tried to kill them.

When exactly does it kick in that these things may be dangerous?

Pretty sure they know they're dangerous. Unless they are packing up the house and planning to flee the city just for the heck of it.

The guy going up to the neighbor and saying you're sick is inexcusable. He's seen too much for that.

The rest of them are doing pretty well

The daughter went back alone without telling anyone to get the shotgun shells.

The main guy continues to basically throw himself at the zombies and say "Eat me" every chance he gets.

They continue to go outside without any weapon of any sort. They don't even take a bat or golf club.

I understand they wouldn't be Rick at this point but they aren't even trying.

Is this show worth watching? I've got the three episodes sitting in my DVR. The only appointment TV I currently have is Cutthroat Kitchen.

It is worth watching. I think it will get better once they start killing off some of the main characters.

1. The daughter doesn't really know what's going on yet. Also, she went back to her neighbor's house that she just came from and had no reason to believe it wasn't safe.

2. They went out to the neighbors house to look for weapons. Not sure what you're talking about.

3. No one knows that bites kill you so why wouldn't he try to wrestle a sick neighbor to the ground. The neighbor is unarmed so why would he think he was in mortal danger at that point?

Gotcha. Just the little guy and me this weekend, so hopefully I can catch up during his naps.

Then she is dumb. That is the point. You are helping to make my point. They have a lot of encounters with them already, and she doesn't even know to stick together with other people.

Because he's a zombie! They've seen what others do. The mom even killed one I believe.

1. The daughter has seen one zombie from a distance through a window. She has no idea what is going on. And why would it be a big deal for her to go by herself to a place she had just come from 1 minute earlier? Why would she think that was dangerous?

2. Why would they need to bring a weapon cut through their backyard and into their neighbors house?

3. They know the zombies are attacking, but they have no idea how deadly they are. Why would the father think he was in mortal danger to wrestle a zombie in a room full of 6 other people who would help him if need be?

Why even worry about the shotgun shells at all? After all, what is happening is no big deal and not even dangerous!
shakes wrote:

For the same reason they broke into someone elses house to steal a shotgun!
shakes wrote:

They've already killed two of them and the drug addict brother warned them at the start about them eating people.

What exactly do you think needs to happen for them to finally get the idea that these zombies are dangerous?

I'd have a hard time wrapping my head around a scenario that would require me to blow my neighbor's head off come this Friday.

There were already three incidents where they either saw zombies killing and eating someone, or they had to kill it before it did that to them.

The drughouse/church.
The drug dealer in the aquaduct.
The principal in the school.

I think I'd figure out that these guys don't just have a bad case of the flu by then.
