I’m not in on The Office community’s takes on things but is it agreed upon that Creed is the funniest character?

when the show goes from being a light satire of office life and shifts to an earnest and trying-to-be-endearing dramedy, the comic characters like creed start to become outliers. and it then started to become 2 different shows crammed in the same half-hour (or in some cases...a whole HOUR). between seasons 2-4 it did a good job of mixing it up...then it just kept falling apart.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but the show was great until about season 5. Then it started to go downhill.

Yes you do. I discovered those shows late also but I would always welcome talking about them.

Creed was great as long they didn't overuse him.

Spot-on.

They got too big for their britches.

They drew out the Jim & Pam thing for too long, and then they kept them together for too long.

It got boring as shit.

The best addition was when they brought on Ed Helms as Andy, though, in season 3 I think.

Then back up after Michael leaves but never as good as the prime.

Holly just showed up.

Even worth finishing up the current season?

Yeah, the fourth season is still really good. Leave after five.

I think the whole show is good but yeah you are in for a lot of annoyance until Michael leaves. Then an annoying British lady shows up but she is a side character.

Fwiw I thought Dinner Party was good but I had higher expectations after hearing it was essentially the consensus best episode of the series.

So I’m like 4-5 episodes in with Holly. A few into season 5. Does she get a lot worse or something? Not a great character so far but imo Ryan was 10x more annoying in season 4 than she has been so far.

Seems like a tall task.

On the other hand I got pretty high tonight and read twitter through almost an entire episode while seeing/remembering almost none of it so maybe it can be done.

I am in the middle of season 1 right now... I am getting there. Didn't realize I had access to it.

Starting episode of 7 of season 5.

Unless things change drastically I’m comfortable saying Dwight is the best character on the show and it’s not really close.

The show didn't really know what it wanted to be until "College" at the earliest. The pilot is especially weird.

Great story about how Chase submitted the College script to HBO and they didn’t want Tony to kill anyone because it might destroy the series and Chase let them know if Tony didn’t get his hands dirty early there would be no series.

Not a bad take at all. He and Jim kind of drive the whole show (especially after... well, after uh...) I also really liked Helms in it. But I liked all of them for their specific quirks.

While not spectactular, I think the Robert California party at his house episode is worth watching later on. I am not a big enough fan to know seasons and episodes, so I leave that up to someone else.

All the "background characters" were like that. Stanely, Meredith, David Wallace, Oscar, Kevin...all terrific when used in the correct way and time frame.
