I'm kind of annoyed that the Reek storyline was written out or at least seems to be merged with the Dagmer guy. Ramsey Bolton is too good of a character.

Panther this thread isn't the best spot for that thought. Maybe move it to the book thread.

I'd say the Dance with Dragons thread. That's for those of us who've read all the books and suffered through Meereen.

Those walnuts came from the kitchen in Winterfell.

Rickon is addicted to walnuts in the show.

It does make that scene where he's cracking walnuts for 5 minutes make a little more sense.

i saw him eating walnuts in a few scenes...but they discussed the hounds following their scent...they said they can't go to the farm because they will kill/torture that family....so just assuming they avoided the farm.

I would only use the gold I paid the iron price for.

Solid episode, not the best in the season but sets the table nicely for what should be a badass final 2 episodes.

Random Observations (potential spoilers below)

- "Leave us" is one of those classic lines that is such a fantasy/epic staple, but I wonder if it was actually ever used. It's never to be fucked around with either, when "leave us" is uttered the entire room clears out in a hurry.

- Not sure how they're going to finish things out with Jon's portion of the story here, what with Yorin and Jon captured together. I'm assuming it will end just as it did in the book, just under a slightly different set of circumstances.

- I really liked the somewhat somber music they chose to set the scene for Jeyne and Robb's hook up. It reminded the audience that what's happening here isn't a good thing. *cough* foreshadowing *cough* Also that girl has a fantastic ass. Just fantastic.

- Michelle Fairley is vying with Theon for some of the best acting so far in these latter episodes of season 2.

- Ahh, the Brienne/Jaime adventures finally begin! Their companionship is so awkward and they're such opposites that it'll make for some nice fresh dialogue.

- I really hate who they got to play The Mountain. He's more tall than big.

- Looking forward to never having to see Harrenhall again. It's such a dreary dismal place.

- What the hell is Bronn using to clean his nails?

- Varys and Littlefinger have been pitifully underutilized this season, but they were pitifully underutilized in book 2, so that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

- I love the little gesture between Bronn and Tyrion when Varys correctly pronounces the weird name of the Archmaester.

- I'm kind of confused as to how they're going to go about showing Tyrion's impact on the Battle of Blackwater. The chain hasn't been brought up, but Tyrion sure was excited about pig shit.

- Sam can't grow a beard worth a shit.

- Jaqen H'ghar is almost exactly how I pictured him in the book, Tom Wlaschiha was perfectly cast.

- Favorite scene goes to Tyrion and Varys as they talk about the game.

- The ongoing bungling of Dany's story continues to haunt season 2 from being better than what it could be. She and Jorah have said the exact same things to each other over and over again, to the point now that it's making me dread seeing them together on camera because I know exactly what they're going to say to each other. Emilia Clarke is a better actress than this, but the writing team has dropped the ball bigtime with this patchwork arc. Hopefully season 3 restores some of the awesomeness that that storyline deserves.

- It's about damn time Davos' backstory got told, also nice to get something of a clue about why Stannis is the way he is. I hope Davos gets his justified chunk of screen time in these final two eps.

I agree with everything except Michelle Fairley. She's been okay, but nothing special. Alfie Allen has been second best this season imo.

Jon and Halfhand seems back on course. Nice to see Sam back at The Fist finding the Dragon glass.

even though he doesn't have quite the jaw, i think alfie allen is a dead ringer to play mick jagger in a rolling stones movie if one is ever made.

Harrenhall isn't done. And about time they reminded the audience about the Brotherhood, although it could have used some more backstory or reference to remind people that Beric Dondarrion and Thoros are out there fighting still.

I look forward to the passing of the coin scene between Arya and Jaquen. Their scene together where Arya names him was great. That girl is doing a fantastic job.

Also wondering about the chain and why no reminder of the wildfire? Its been a few episodes since Tyrion was with the alchemists and would have been nice to see it again before next week.

No mention of Melisandre not being with Stannis for this battle.

The way they are handling Jon/Qhorin is just awful. Jon looks lost and confused instead of determined to do what is asked of him -which the non-book audience must have no idea because their scenes have been so rushed and jumbled.

Dany and Qarth and the crapfest taking place over there is really disappointing. I hope they salvage it with The House of the Undying.

As far as Melisandre, wasn't it last episode where Stannis agreed to leave her behind?

Jon is still figuring out what Halfhand wants him to do. I'll give it time to breathe and see what happens.

The Jon story is fine now. They did it differently but it will end the same way. I am OK with it.

I hate Dany so much now. I am rooting for Pyat Pree.

I knew that the fake Jeyne Westerling was a smokeshow and her ass did not let me down. Well done Robb.

I love that girl's look: pure, yet sultry. Damn. Fine. Woman.

She is Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter.
