Am going to see tomorrow or Monday. I have seen every other iteration of the story and have liked almost every one of them.
This one re-teams Fuqua Dennzel and Ethan Hawke. Heard nothing but good reviews so far.

i want to see it, but i have seen mixed reactions. some are saying it's bland or not anything inspired.

while browsing google news, i came across this tripe:

http://qz.com/788796/the-magnificent-seven-review-seven-samurais-2016-remake-stars-denzel-washington-and-chris-pratt/

i love how the "writer" criticizes the '60's remake for "whitewashing", as if that wasn't the practice of every hollywood movie back in that time. just about every movie depicting ethnic people had whites playing the roles.

then, he's confused on whether he should like the casting of denzel because no one points out that he's black or has a problem with it (clearly fuqua was trying to make a point about the absence of meaning of "color"). but he still has to criticize it because he's a dickless so-called progressive who belongs to that group of "liberals" (they're not really liberals) who deserve a Leonidas kick into the pit for being so aggressively dumb and pseudo-intellectual.

EDIT: and also, the japanese criticized kurasawa for being too "western" in his storytelling. in a sense, they felt *he* whitewashed his own films because his storytelling methods were more like hollywood's than japanese. even though he cast japanese actors (because those were his resources), he probably could have cast white actors originally in his own film if he had made it in hollywood anyway. it's not like he cast those actors to make a point about being japanese.

Yup, Kurosawa himself has said his movie was a western. So his was a rip off lol.I think the Japanese have more to be upset about with that abortion that Keanu did a few years back about the 47 Ronin, that was a real story and people to this day still visit the grave and hold a festival remembering their honor. Wheat do we do? We make a joke of it.

Based on the shots of Haley Bennett featured in some of the previews, I thought this movie had been renamed The Magnificent Two. :drunken:

Anyone else tired of Denzel Washington? He's the same guy in every movie.

Save your time and money ... skip the movie, listen to The Clash instead.

Everyone should be listening to The Clash all the time.

We really should be hanging out together more often.
