Still better than most of the shows of this era. That is all.

I don’t have time to start talking about how much I love this show.

Greatest theme song of all time. OF ALL TIME.

James Garner , one of the most down to earth guys. I remember him on Carson once, Johnny asked him if he ever wanted to be a big hollywood star. He said no, all he wanted out of life was to have a job that paid enough to raise his family. What a great guy.

I always liked the episodes where he wore a cowboy hat and claimed he was a Texas oilman in order to gain the bad guy's trust.

I learned a trick from this show many many years ago that saved my butt.

I was out late at a bar and happened to get into an argument with some really bad guys. they were out to physically hurt me.

I drove out of there but these guys were out to get me and started chasing me in their car. After many turns I got lost in a part of town I had no idea about.

So I remembered an episode from the show where Jim Rockford turned his headlights off so the guys chasing him couldn't see his car. Did the same trick and was able to get out of there with my health :)

It was around 1980. I think I was driving a Lincoln.

All these years I thought it was a Trans Am.

I think so. It was a red interior. Red exterior. Like dark red magenta colored. It was a poor man's caddy back then.

Googling Trans Am and the Firebird appears to be the same car. Not a car guy, so I don't know what the deal is.

Yet, it saved your life. That, and Jim Rockfish, as that one dude on the show called him

Yeah the gold firebird was great. Rockford was awesome.

Pro tip: If your girl wants to watch a romantic movie steer toward Murphy’s Romance. You will get Garner being great and Sally Field in jeans.

Trans Am had a spoiler.

Otherwise, you are correct. Same car.

Fun Fact - James Garner did most of his golden Firebird car stunts. He was better at doing the 180/360 spinouts than the stunt people. He prided himself on doing car stunts.

Dude. We need to qualify this one. Movie works if 35 or over. Otherwise it's like watching your parents enter the dating pool. Loses a bit of the romance.

When young we would spin our cars from reverse to forward in parking lots. We called them “doing a Rockford “.

No idea what it means.
