I saw a free screening yesterday. I guess it had its moments and overall a decent flick. It dragged far longer than a comedy should. If you can't wrap up a comedy in under 1:30 your entire production team sucks. I think Jonah Hill has been told he is something great a few too many times in Hollywood and now he believes he is some great artist rather than a fat funny guy whose laughs come from his awkwardness rather than some incredible mind. This leads him to be long winded in his writing.

This is an incredibly talented cast and Meghan Mullaly really steals the movie. However, at some point in the movie I got the feeling that it was Hill laughing at us rather than with us. The daughter does a lot of unthinkable and thoughtless things to her beloved father over a weekend and we are left with HIM being the bad guy for having standards.

Also, are the Rogan-Hill-Franco triumvirate going to step out from stoner comedies the rest of their careers or just keep cashing checks with this mediocre formula?
