I remember reading something about how Carl Reiner initially intended the show to focus mainly on Rob's life at the office thereby giving Rose Marie a far larger role in the show. People liked the Rob and Laura relationship so much that he pared the office part back and gave Laura a larger part than originally intended which apparently pissed Rose Marie off and she resented Mary Tyler Moore as a result.
