If longevity didn't matter Hicks would be top 3.

I like Louis CK a lot but him ranked 4th while having Eddie Murphy ranked 25th is just laughable

What the fuck is Amy Schumer on there for?

Better question might be: Whose cock did her fat, ugly, pig-nosed ass suck over at Rolling Stone?

The very idea that Joan Rivers is above Steve Martin, Don Rickles, Eddie Murphy, Patrice O'Neal, not to mention Bill Burr for chrissakes is pure, unadulterated pandering bullshit.

Margaret Cho is horrible.
Wanda Sykes is not funny.

Elayne Boolser, Amy Schumer, and Aziz Ansari are OK, but I don't think they are Top 50 of all time.

I didn't think Andy Kaufman was funny when I was a kid. I went back and watched some of his work as an adult thinking maybe I missed something others seemed to be getting. I did not. I think people who like Kaufman, like Kaufman because they think they will look stupid if they don't like Kaufman.

i don't think andy kaufman would have considered himself a "stand up comedian". he didn't like that kind of labeling. he was a performer. he was what is now called an anti-humorist, but he wasn't doing it as a subgenre the way that modern "comics" are. it isn't anti-humor for the sake of feeding their egos, it was just performance art. i don't think it was about "getting it" either. he felt if you were entertained, so was he. but even if you weren't, he entertained himself. selfish, yes, but that was just who he was.

I would agree. Zmuda's book on Andy illustrated that rather well, along with explaining how when Andy did the the Tony Clifton gimmick that he was essentially an entirely different person, not just someone doing a bit.

The inclusion of some of the female comics is sketchy at best. Someone like Jim Gaffigan is funnier than Amy Schumer has ever been, but he's not top 50 of all time. Plus I don't think Kevin Hart is top 50 all time either.

Bob Hope
Jack Benny
George Burns

Who here can speak to the greatness that allegedly is Mort Sahl. He may be a sacred cow, but I don't recall anything or any old recordings of him. Along that same line, Steve Martin is sophomoric and little he did held up well.

Steven Wright, Margaret Cho, Aziz Ansari & Patrice O'Neal can go scratch as well

And I must admit I've never even seen the names of Reggie Watts, Russell Peters, Tig Notaro or Daniel Kitson.

I am kind of shocked at no Lewis Black, Flip Wilson or Seinfeld

I think Jerry's #7.

Jim Jeffries? I'm not sure one viral bit qualifies one for top 50 of all time. I think we can all agree this list is ridiculous though.

Just because I've always thought you to be an ignorant ass, decorum had been preventing me from expressly saying it. I'll give you credit though, that you picked up on my beliefs about you says you're not quite as stupid as I thought you were.

I'm glad he was entertained because I certainly was not. The wrestling stuff wasn't entertaining, the mighty mouse was not entertaining...it was all just like a bad snl skit that might get a mercy laugh
