Getting lots of hype. Here's a standard review from what I've seen:

Watched the first episode.

Not bad.

2 episodes in. I am in for the long haul. I like it better that stranger things which I thought was just meh. Loved the cinematography and set but that was it really.

This show has more promise I am pretty hooked. The characters are all interesting so far.

Through 4 episodes and I am enjoying it.

The stuff from the past is more compelling than the current stuff, but it's still not bad.

So many frustrating things with this show. Really a good premise, to start with and I even understand the open ended plot holes because we are part of the group of kids from the storytellers point of view. My problem is that it will leave most viewers confused and frustrated. Not in a way that is good either. This was rushed to production and not fully baked.

What an odd ending. It was a interesting show. Enjoyed the basement sequences, but that final episode. Just wow.

I hear this show starts out pretty good and then is completely ruined by the ending.

Fair statement?

Here is a good summary of the finale: http://www.thisisinsider.com/oa-season- ... is-2016-12

Did not miss anything except the final detail of the 5th movement. Also, has an interesting theory on why the movements worked in the climatic ending. Smooths it out a bit. I am interested enough to watch another round of episodes. Liked it better than Stranger Things until the finale.

That is interesting.

Maybe makes it a bit more palatable.

That whole plot line- it was all in her mind- just seems unnecessary.

Right.

If they didn't introduce, it would've made everything flow a bit easier.

I probably would've still hated the school shooter deal, but maybe not as much.

Agreed.

Also, didn't OA need the Internet so that she could watch the news report on Homer being knocked out and having his NDE during the football game? (It looked like it was footage of K State vs. Texas btw. Did not go back to look.) When the boys were researching her story how did they not discover that? They found a video of OA playing the violin in a New York subway, but still decide her story was made up because they found what appeared to be unread books under her bed when French (the Olive Garden waiter) home invades her parents house. Still not sure why Riz Ahmen from Night Of was also in the house unless that was a clue that he planted the books.

I vaguely recall the news report of the school shooting playing in the background before the finale. It's more difficult to see and make sense of these details when viewing in a binge watch format. There are so many shootings in reality that I thought they were just trying to be authentic and show that this show is occurring in present day America.

Weird that this PSA came out and went viral the same month as The OA was released: https://youtu.be/A8syQeFtBKc

I watched episode 1. It seems interesting and I'll see if I can devote some time to it. I probably have enough time for 1 last show before my leisure time is filled until July.

I am about at Episode 4 or 5, just after the escape attempt. It's bogging down a little in this prison.

I like these movies where there is a story within the story. It's not a great analogy but kind of like The Red Violin.

I think it is a good idea that they made the lead a plain looking person. I think it eliminates distraction.

So you don't want to bang the OA? The actress is from the area.

Is that the only criteria required to want to bang someone?

They are pretty unrelated statements. Though it is interesting to find out if posters here have had interactions with locals who made it... NetFlix being making it at this point.

This is my belief as well after finishing the series. The truth of what happened is what she told her parents in the hotel room. The story she told in the abandoned house was fantasy and an attempt at psychological healing. The movements were ridiculous and appeared to have no impact on the shooter other than distraction. It was a nice story about her helping the five to heal and the five helping her to heal. One thing that supports this opinion is her detailing of the doctor's meeting. She would have no first hand knowledge of that incident if she were captured and there is no evidence that the doctor told her. That was a creation in her mind...but where did it come from as it was so out of place with the rest of the story?

The books seemed unnecessary to make the point and I do have my doubts that they played much of a role in her story. Homer isn't a character in The Illiad and her story seemed in no way analogous to it (with a bit of new age mixed in). I do believe there is another story line beyond Prairie that is occurring here. There really is no explanation for the FBI agent to have been in the house and I do think the books were a plant. I think she told him very little about her story and he used those pieces to plant the books.

I have a feeling there will be an overarching story about NDE experimentation. Homer is real. Both of the doctors are real (HAP is going to end up being something but not anyone's true name). The FBI is in on this. Introducing the shooting as the end of the show seems completely random and out of character for the rest of the series, so throw that shooter in as having something to do with the experimenting.

Pretty good show...had some really moving moments early on. I have no idea why it turns out they were actually preparing for the school shooting. I did binge watch it over the past couple days and may have fallen asleep at certain points. Here's what the OA has to say about season 2:

I really think this is a show that didn't need a season 2 and it affected the writer's conclusion by having to write for it.

You think the show should have been about a woman lying about her captivity to cope and ended with a school shooting? I think it was pretty clear there was something supernatural going on when she was able to cure here blindness.
