Snyder quits movie after daughter commits suicide. Joss Whedon to take over as director. While horrible circumstances to cause the change, having a change is probably best for the outlook on this movie.

IMO, if Whedon takes over everything, they might compete with Marvel.

It seems something like 90% of the editing/filming is finished, so it'll be nice to see what Whedon does with remaining hypothetical 10% of post production/additional scenes.

Feel bad for Snyder. Daughter was in college, and a writer.

This is great news for all comic book fans!

Part of me likes to think that she didn't kill herself, but was instead murdered by really angry comic book fans.

The movie's in post production. I wonder if/what changes Whedon will make.

According to reports he has to film some minor additional scenes, and edit them into the film. I also read Snyder and him wrote the scenes Whedon will shoot. So not much, but probably enough to have some minor impact.

I mean, my feeling isn't "good" about it, but I still hold out hope Snyder can rekindle that 300/Watchmen (director's cut) era magic.

Furthermore, Affleck surprised me as Batman. MoS isn't as bad as some think. Gal Gadot is looking like a solid choice for WW. Jason Mamoa is an inspired choice as a disenchanted Aquaman. I'm hoping Ezra Miller can overcome the disappointment shared by CW fans that Grant Gustin wasn't chosen for the film. Which brings me to Cyborg. I'm not feeling it initially, but I'm going in with an open mind.

You see. I get that totally. It's going to be even more weird when Disney/Marvel starts implementing the Defenders into their films without the Netflix actors.

It has to be the opposite of Marvel which seems to be "popular". If it stays dark and gritty, I am all for it.

I was on this train until seeing Man of Steel and BvS...I can only take so much doom and gloom in a movie that's about superheroes before I check out.

But a lot of people complained about the dark and gritty BvS. I thought it was really good, but not great.

And it's this complaint which is going to force added humor into JL. These added jokes are either going to work, or fail miserably ImO.

No one's forcing them to do anything. If they want to stay on their "super serious business" arc then go right ahead...just enjoy being trounced by Marvel in the box office at every turn.

Judging by the first couple trailers humor is definitely being featured in this film. I'm not complaining Lipid, I'm just saying it appears they are responding to the " it's too dark" critiques.

I don't see it as Marvel vs. DC... I see it as Disney/Marvel being evaluated through this "do no wrong" filter, and DC simply trying to establish themselves in an already crowded genre.

When I say Dark and Gritty, I mean like a 300 look. You can not have the same look as Marvel. Have swearing, sex ect in it.

That would be nice, but thinking about it further idk if any studio is ready to invest $200mil into an R rated superhero movie. When a studio drops that kind of budget on a comic book film they are relying on the guaranteed family ticket sales to recoup.

Deadpool and Logan were both shot for below $100 million, and raked in big revenue. I wish one of these studios had the balls to make an R rated big budget film, but I haven't heard anything like that yet. Disney/Marvel will never do it. DC/WB may try it, but who knows what the budget would be. Fox is shooting the second R rated Deadpool for less than $100 million, and I don't see them making an R rated X-Men either.

Edit: There is speculation the new Sony made Venom movie starring Tom Hardy will be R. No word on budget tho.

No matter what I will hate the movie Flash.

Especially since he'll probably fuck up the timeline.

Wonder Woman will probably be the only great movie to come out of the DCEU. They should've had the chick who directed that take over Justice League. Also have Wonder Woman be the main lead. And the whole plot set around her.

Flash is having issues keeping a director, and the script has already been sent in for a complete rewrite.

Sony has the rights to Spider man and Venom. They kind of share Spider man with D/M when it's convenient.

D/M probably didn't want to make an edgy Venom character.

I just want to see all 3 Spider man, Venom, and Carnage on screen together at some point.

JL is in November, yes. I think they'll be all right. Rogue One was doing reshoots in June/July before being released in December.

I see your point. All that's left is a few reshoots and that's about it from everything I've read. The director for JL2 hasn't been named yet, so I guess this is a tryout of sorts.

Honestly, maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing if Whedon added a little bit of his flavor to the whole film. Snyder can direct the hell out of an action scene, but he struggles balancing that with the dramatic storylines. Whedon really is a master at balancing those two elements.
