Which sitcom was better?

Gonna have to go with Raymond. Though I think Jerry Seinfeld was a better lead than Ray Romano, Raymond's supporting cast with Peter Boyle, Patricia Heaton and Brad Garrrett were funnier.

Seinfeld is a jewish, noir adult comedy, while Raymond is a family show. Sorry, I think the trivial comedy of Larry David is overrated. Seinfeld went on for too long.

Your take?

I liked Raymond but this isn't a discussion.

Why did discussing the 45th and 63rd best sitcoms of the last 30 years require its own thread?

Nice attempt but still not a worse thought than Rube.

I always thought Patricia Heaton was hotter than JLD ( and JLN for that matter ) if that counts as a bad thought .

She was cute with a nice caboose, but not in the same league with Elaine Benes in her heyday.

Both shows were on for nine seasons

Yes, it's a serious question.

Unless you're a jew or a person with negative sensibilities, Seinfeld's humor is trivial, perverted, misanthropic and frankly stupid, just like its creators. The characters are not at all likable, where every episode revolves around someone's misery or misfortune. No wonder they all ended up in jail in the end, which was their symbolic hell. If you've seen one episode of Seinfeld, you've seen them all.

On the other hand, the cast of Raymond was brilliant and endearing, particularly the parents and the Robert character. The chemistry among the characters was superior. Seinfeld had to bring in Elaine, because the show would have failed with Michael Alexander and Jason Alexander, who was a feckless dud.

You can disagree with me, but then you would be wrong.

Are they in the same comedy division? Need to know the H2H result for playoff implications.

Even though Seinfeld had better ratings , Fan Graphs is telling me Raymond had a higher Jokes above replacement score and was therefore better

This is like asking who is the better basketball player between Larry Bird and Jack Sikma...

But what else would we expect from Rube. His long list of terrible thoughts continue.

Well,well.well...Another CFMB'r attacking the sacred Seinfeld. Don't get me wrong,I liked Seinfeld but which of those two shows gave me the bigger laughs? Raymond hands down.

Of course Raymond not half as funny as Doug Heffernan.

Next time on Bad Matchups, we'll feature Andre the Giant vs. Billy Barty.
