Seems a cultural phenomenon among women. What's the big deal?

One of you watches it.

My wife watches it. I can usually tolerate her stupid shows. This is one I can't be in the same room for... the only show that annoyed me more was Gilmore Girls.

Wife watches it as well.

Not terrible from the parts I've seen but I don't really pay attention.

This. I guess unless you are afraid of being some Nancy-boy for watching an emotional drama than this wouldn't be for you.
The first couple of episodes had some of the best twists in a series I have seen in a while. The acting is very well done and
the writing has been outstanding. I have been surprised they have been able to keep up the quality through the holiday
break to be honest. They have done a nice job with the characters and have some really nice cameos by strong actors
throughout. The critics love it and apparently so do women since the ratings are very high. One of the better shows on
network television ( usually a short bar to jump ) and worth watching in my opinion. If you don't like it after the first two
episodes than you will never like it.

this article plus a friend's description of the pilot, kept me away from it. i can't stand anything that begs for your emotional output.

I think that review is pretty fair. As I mentioned before, if you don't like it after the first couple of episodes than you should just
bag it and find something else. My wife digs it, and having something we can watch together can be cathartic, especially since she
doesn't watch Westworld or Game of Thrones and has no intention of doing so with me.

I watch it with Mrs. newper -- it is her favorite show currently being produced. Like T-Bone said, the first few episodes have -exceptional- plot twists at the end of the show -- really well written and planned. It definitely can hook you in. Sterling Brown (Army Wives, Darden in the OJ miniseries) is great as always. The twists have now gone away -- not really a problem though; there are enough plot lines to keep the thing moving on its own.

Still a very good show, but the pace has slowed considerably. Four more episodes left this season.

Father of the Year is sick of Mandy Moore's shit and rightfully so. When the last shot was him eating a burger by himself at the restaurant I cheered. Guy deserves it.

I'm worried the season is going to end with both him and Randall's dad dying though and I'm not sure I can handle that.

Both of you should stop disgracing the honor of men and kill yourselves. I bet you don't even hold the remote when its on.

I get nervous every episode that Randall's dad is going to die... now they are having a "special" episode, my nervous level is at 11. Will have to sneak some Kleenex before we start watching just in case.

While watching one of the episodes earlier in the run I said this has a "thirty something" show vibe. While watching the latest episode last night I noticed it was directed by Ken Olin. He was the lead on thirty something.
