'Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law' returns this fall with a big promotion

Adult Swim is bringing back one of the series that helped the network make a name for itself this fall: Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. The mash-up of classic cartoons will return for a half-hour special later this year, titled Harvey Birdman, Attorney General.

Adult Swim dropped early plot and casting details as part of an in-character press release. The gist: supervillain President Phil Seben (again voiced by Stephen Colbert) has appointed Harvey Birdman as the country's new attorney general. But Harvey isn't going to use the position to serve President Seben. Instead, he's using the power of the judicial system to get him out of office. Hopefully.

Along with Colbert, much of the original voice cast will reprise their roles, including Gary Cole as Harvey. Adult Swim hasn't said much else about the animated special beyond those details, but we're stoked for more of the deadpan cartoon this fall, even if it's just a one-off.

All these years later I'm still bummed he croaked. The show was never the same. Not their fault it fell off; just bad luck.
Then again I still miss Tough Crowd.

They have to have Supreme Court Chief Justice Mentok.

Oh, most assuredly. All the more reason to have it. But all the good ones are a little too old or just dead, so that's problematic too.

I just found off it's a half-hour one-off, not a series. Nuts. An hour I could see, but just a half-hour? Bogus.

They should bring back Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost too; but never the Brak Show.

that's right, Moltar/Zorak Martin Croker died too young a few years back. And Capt Murphy / Harry Goz was already old-ish when the show ran. Space Ghost's voice guy, George Lowe, is still around. And Erik Estrada's still alive.

Mailbox-head couldn't carry the show on his own.

Not sure there was ever a funnier Sealab close than from their first episode where they had Murphy do the "there go my nipples again" in different voices, culminating in Archie Bunker saying it.

Very worried this is gonna be a Trump hate fest instead of the usual great banter they had.

If done right it could be good, but Trump hating comedy is getting pretty tired.

You probably will not hear this everyday but as a kid,the original Birdman was my favorite cartoon along with Jonny Quest and Space Ghost. The good old days when you woke up on a Saturday morning to a great selection of mindless entertainment for youngsters.
