It has to have been like 15 years since I last watched this movie. I used to think it was one of the best movies ever when I was in HS. It’s really not all that great in hindsight. Some of the battle scenes are particularly underwhelming.

I’m a BIGFAN of Mel’s acting and directing (Apocalypto is one of my fav movies), but the historical inaccuracies alone are so ridiculous this movie does not hold up at all.

I always have a hard time setting aside Robert the Bruce’s stolen valor to fully enjoy the movie

The Last Kingdom is very much in this genre. There is also another on Robert the Bruce on Netflix or Prime.

I recently watched Braveheart and Gladiator back to back on one of the commercial stations.

I agree about the battle scenes. I think because of CGI and technology in general, the bar has been raised quite a bit.

Especially because of the fantastic battle scenes created in Game of Thrones.

I've had an old DVD copy of Rob Roy sitting in my house for years and for whatever reason it's never made it into the DVD player. How does it compare to Braveheart?

When called for jury duty as a 21 year old I was asked one question by the prosecutor while in the box. He asked if I had ever seen Rob Roy. I was dismissed 1 minute after answering no. I can’t imagine that it was the fact I had not seen the movie but I still found it odd.

I really don't think most lawers have a rhyme or reason for picking juries.

And I've never seen Rob Roy either.

And Brogue - Bart

So your saying the strategy of yelling out “I’ve never seen Rob Roy!” is not a sure fire way to get dismissed from a jury in the future? I get a summons for duty every tear and a half or so... never even had to show at courthouse.

FF can’t help but be wrong more often than not. This is another in a long line of bad thoughts.

If you look in the background of the first major battle, there are extras just standing around holding their sword perfectly still

It’s a fine movie. It doesn’t hold up that well though. A lot of the acting outside of the main characters is piss poor too.

Top 10 movie of all-time.

Perfect score by James Horner. May he rest in peace.

The Irish guy and Dawg the Bounty Hunter are the best characters in the film.

I've never seen it. It is one of those blockbuster movies that I just have never bothered to watch.
