Always a weird, and kinda cool feeling to get context on things like that.

The George Zip scene in Airplane! I saw that before I saw Knute Rockne, All-American. Same with the dancing scene. Lots of parodies of Hamlet out there, too.

Similarly, I've heard a lot of music in old cartoons that I didn't know was really famous classical music until much later. I thought the cartoon version of Figaro's aria was made expressly for the extremely un-PC cartoon "Magical Maestro."

I saw James Corden's "Thank U Jeff" for Jeff Goldblum before I ever saw Ariana Grande's "Thank U Next." In fact, I still haven't seen her thing and probably never will.

I saw The Sinatra and McGlaughlin groups on SNL before seeing the real ones. Also Nancy Grace and Suzie Orman which were hilarious both in and out of context.

I had the Weird Al CD Alapalooza before ever hearing the original songs. I prefer his versions of all but Bohemian Rhapsody.
