I absolutely loved it when it came out and it stands the test of time 30 years later. (shit it's been 30 years!?!?)

An old movie now that seems like an older movie since they did such a great job w/ the essence of that era.

Love it!

Overall, I liked this picture for individual performances as well as the ability to capture the character of Prohibition and the "Chicago Style of Doing Things."

I really enjoyed De Niro as Capone. Apparently, there are no known actual public recordings of Capone's voice - maybe family members' private recordings? However, I like to think De Niro nailed the best Capone portrayal on film to date. Although, the guy from Boardwalk Empire was very good as well.

Albeit a very entertaining movie, there are some notable facts that were completely "Hollywoodized". Frank Nitti did not meet his demise by falling off of a rooftop.

Also, Capone was often portrayed as angry and yelling in the movie. MANY personal accounts of Capone described him as someone who was generous and enjoyed having a good time.

Oh, and he really did love baseball.

One of only 3 movies I saw in the theaters and then went back and saw it again the next night. Other two were Die Hard and Empire Strikes Back.

I am not a movie buff, but I remember after I saw this movie 32 some years ago I was like this is going to be my favorite movie of all time. 32 years later it still is. Like top 2 or 3 if not first.

I really love the scene showing the first raid on the post office. That street scape looks like it is a Hollywood set but that is actually what La Salle Street looks like to this day looking south from about Monroe. The only thing they added were the old cars. I love that view of the city.

Road to Perdition also has some good scenes

One of the things that I never tire of is identifying movie scenes set in Chicago. Kind of like when I was in the building from the opening (raid) scene in US Marshals. I had to catch myself in the apartment where the arrest scene and Tommy Lee Jones popped the guy in the head with his shotgun. (The building was then a vacant REO)

ya the scenery was awesome in the movie. They use to say back in the 80s there are two cities in the US that haven't changed in 50 years, San Francisco and Chicago.

I also loved the scene under the bridge with Connery and Costner.

Funny how they had a Scotsman play an Irishman and a Cuban play an Italian. But it worked perfectly.

As far a a father/son movie, it doesn't get any better than that. The cast is top notch. And I wanted to put a bullet in Connor Rooney's head just as as much as Mike Sullivan did.
