First trailer for new Halloween film.

John Carpenter executive producing.

Directed by David Gordon Green.

Co-written by Green and Danny McBride (Yes, Kenny Powers).

Starring Jamie Lee Curtis

There is a new continuity. This film takes place after the very first Halloween movie. Everything after the 1st Halloween doesn't exist in this universe.

Trailer looks good.

This series might have the record for the most reboots.

So, Jamie Lee Curtis awakens to find Michael Myers taking a shower?

Too easy. Sorry, guys.

 I'll show myself out...

My hype meter has steadily grown since I heard it was getting good reviews at the film festival the movie premiered at.

I don't know how you guys watch this shit and love it as much as you do. I don't meant that as a criticism. Are you scared and like it, do you just "know" it's not real, or does it not affect you at all. Sometimes these types of movies bug me for weeks after I watch them. The older I get the more Halloween bugs me. Freaky stuff.

At this point I'm just trying to find a film that gives me a good scare. Slashers are fun when the suspense is done right. Torture porn has never really been my thing. I prefer a good horror movie that has a supernatural angle to it.

Mrs. Jbi11s will only watch one scary movie a year with me. I think I'm going to go with Hereditary this year. Haven't seen it, but heard great things.

probably the same reason I like roller coasters

Slasher films do not scare me. They are just the horror version of an action movie. They are fun to watch but disposable upon use. I could by into Jason or Michael Myers as a kid and be scared for a long time. I simply don't buy into them anymore so once disbelief is no longer suspended, it doesn't affect me.

A good psychological horror movie can still stick. I still like to go to them. Maybe I'm a masochist at heart.

ever see "Let the Right One In"? Much better than average vampire themed movie.

From Rotten Tomatoes...

TOMATOMETER
98%
Average Rating: 8.3/10

Critics Consensus: Let the Right One In reinvigorates the seemingly tired vampire genre by effectively mixing scares with intelligent storytelling.

AUDIENCE SCORE
90%
liked it
Average Rating: 4.2/5

A 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young girl whose appearance in town suspiciously coincides with a horrifying series of murders in director Tomas Alfredson's adaptation of the book by author John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote the screenplay. Oskar is a young boy who can't seem to shake off the local bullies, but all of that begins to change when a new neighbor moves in next door. After striking up an innocent friendship with his eccentric next-door neighbor, Oskar realizes that she is the vampire responsible for the recent rash of deaths around town. Despite the danger, however, Oskar's friendship with the girl ultimately takes precedence over his fear of her.

Yes sir. Great recommendation. I own the original Swedish version. Excellent film. I think we have watched that one in the past.

Hereditary is awesome but I wouldn't waste that one on your wife since it seems she's not into the horror genre as much as you are. I'd recommend A Quiet Place. I thought it was just okay but it was still a fun movie to watch and better for the casual fan than something like Hereditary.

Anyways, can't wait for this. The Halloween franchise was my gateway into the horror genre.

When I was a kid, these movies (particularly Friday the 13th and Halloween) used to scare me to the point where I would have bad dreams, yet I would want to watch them again and again.

I agree with JBills, the "Saw-ness" of Horror movies is not what I'm into, but rather the jump scares and the notion of whether something is truly out there or just a figment of imagination.

Going to make somewhere between $70-$80 million this weekend.

Pretty good for a movie in October.

while this movie will make a lot of money, i didn't find it as refreshing or as good as i thought it could be. there were some subplots that i found interesting that never went anywhere, or were cut short by upping the body count.

i also didn't find the gore factor to be all that necessary. after all, what made the original "halloween" so superior to other slasher films is that there wasn't a lot of blood. it was more implied. it was more effective that way.

that said, there were things to like in it. curtis was still strong. i thought she'd be more of the Loomis character, but she's really more self-protective than she is trying to save everyone. there's a decent reason for that, but it leaves little room for other characters to develop. i liked the granddaughter, and the daughter characters. the trio of them against michael was cool.

there was one subplot involving michael's new doctor that had a wealth of potential...again, snuffed out completely and left me feeling like it literally was put in there to pad out the run-time. with such a paltry climax and payoff, it just wasn't necessary at all. and that was a shame.

so overall, it's not terrible or anything i'd "walk out on" but it just didn't have enough for me to really like it. sure it's better than pretty much all of the Michael "Halloween" sequels...but that's not really saying much.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D
