I was thinking about the time jimmypasta said Me-TV FM should play television theme songs so I started this.

I didn't know until just now that that absurd theme song to Maude that compares a cranky old lady to great historical figures was sung by Chicago's own Donny Hathaway! Not enough to redeem it, though. Just awful. No "This Christmas," that's for sure.

The M*A*S*H and Taxi themes were my signals that was it time to go to bed and really time to go to bed, respectively. I think if I made it past Taxi, channel 32 would show, like, Hunter or something. I don't remember the theme to Hunter.

Maybe not even the best theme song on NBC at its time considering L.A. Law and St. Elsewhere but it's close between all three.

I didn't realize the Golden Girls theme was a real song, with more words and a bridge and stuff. To say it blew my mind would be a vast understatement.

"Welcome Back, Kotter" and "WKRP in Cincinnati" are the ones I used to sing to the most.

The Vega$ opening music on our black and white bedroom tv was my cue to pretend I was asleep.

I am also biased, but my favorite theme music is that of The Virginian. It's actually really good.

I got this CD in 7th grade. Even then I dug the theme to Twin Peaks years before I had any way of watching episodes. Lots of weird selections on here. What were "Davis Rules" and "Hudson Street"? You could hoodwink people into watching some pretty crappy sitcoms in the '90s just by sandwiching them between other sitcoms you were already committed to watch. Remember all the crap that used to run between Seinfeld, Friends, and ER?

(* - not originally intended to be the theme ... 'Angela' is its name ... instead, it was going to be the title track off of the 'Touchdown' album ... listen to it and then picture an opening for Taxi with that music ... it's really super 80s sounding ... like extended Cheers filler music ... so it fits sound-wise but it's way, way too upbeat for a show with Judd Hirsch on it)

And that's the end of the thread ... thank you and goodnight.

I think that I was 12 when my dad gave me enough birthday money to hit Walgreens for a sweet 12" black and white Sampo tv.

This is sports-on-WSNS music.

Why are you biased big time teacher? You didn't write or perform the song.

One of the funniest roast lines ever was Jeff Ross roasting Sandra Bernhardt .

“ Sandra Bernhardt ? I wouldn’t fuck her with Bea Arthur’s dick ! “ with Bea Arthur being on the panel

I thought this sounded familiar...bad.

"Dear John" even depressed an 8 year old me. At least he didn't jump off a bridge and instead he rented a bad apartment and seemingly abandoned his house.

Yeah I heard that for the first time over the summer on 87.7 radio. Kind of blew me away too.

I still watch The Andy Griffith Show, and every time that theme song starts my son stops dead in his tracks and looks at the TV. The only other song he does that for is Sesame Street.
