Checking this out tonight and so far Good Times is up first. As a big fan growing up of the original I say to this booo. Is it supposed to be a caricature?

It is a new one--- they did The Jeffersons last time and did the Good Times this time. Old Man Lear is 97, so I guess they felt they should keep doing his stuff. The Good Times guy had a little trouble with the lines, but he is a week from being 80. They are generally homages with caricature to drive home the parts that people remember from the originals.

It looks like Kimmel's production company puts this together and he has some sway at ABC. He might even have a deal where his company gets a few special shows each year.

I like it. I don't love it. It's fun for a night.

I noticed a lot of Michael's comments from Good Times that were statements of rebellion that got cheers back in the day are run of the mill SJW today and fell flat.

He did, but you kind of looked past it knowing the reason he was there. I was pulling for him to be great, almost reading the lines to him at home.

You can really tell who the good actors are in this format. Braugher, Davis, Tomei, Bacon and even, begrudgingly, Eisenberg really show themselves to be a class above others. Woody and Bairenholz are pretty good. The others are just a mixture of talents that are currently acting to pay the bills.

They picked a pretty difficult episode of All in the Family to nail. That episode is one of Carol O'Connors best

These are amusing twice a year. They should pick something easier next time like Three's Company

Steve Buschemi as Mr. Furley

I bet "Soap" would lend itself to this. But I think the deal is with Norman Lear shows.

Jamie Foxx's daughter was really good, I thought.

she was nice to look

What happened to original Thelma? I saw her on the MeTV intros and she looked great. Yesterday...oof. Also, I guess Janet Jackson had better things to do.

They should have invited Thelma's husband, the Bears running back.

Nope. Part of the deal. Only live. They didn't even record it.

The first couple of seasons of "All In The Family" is tv at its best. Archie Bunker speaking of Italians, "If you can find an honest one, you've really got something".
