first 3 episodes premiered on Hulu today. Already a lot going on to keep me very interested. Plenty of threads for storytelling. Just the way a Stephen King inspired show should be. Gotta love easter eggs, too

Through 2 episodes and I am liking the show. The kid in the cage and why the warden was holding him there is intriguing, as is the story of what happened to Henry as a kid.

Also really enjoy Scott Glenn as Alan Pangborn.

Through 4 episodes now and I am invested.

Molly has something going on. She hears the voices and is seeing Henry's dad with his head wrapped up.

Warden Lacy may have been on to something with keeping the kid locked up.

its really good. Cage Kid has some wicked alternate ability about him. and Molly I think has a dose of the shine.

Episode 7 was nuts.

Great performance from Sissy Spacek. Can't figure out if the Kid is the dad reincarnated or what.

Looks like its me and you Speeps.

Is she going to end up lost in the moment Pangborn "comes back"? As far as the Kid, i'm still thinking he senses on how to manipulate people toward an end he sees fit. she just so happened to be a part of his bigger...plan? or, just as to how it fits in with the warden and the larger picture. whereas, the guard and the birthday party family were like, play things. practice.

I didn't really give a shit about the latest episode.

The people buying the Lacey house and turning it into a spooky B&B plot ended up being pointless.

Henry seeing the painting of The Kid in the house wearing the sweater that Henry was wearing when he went missing in 1991 was interesting, as was him telling Molly that he was there when she died.

The four characters who have "the shining" are all connected, obviously, but I also think they've died once before and have returned. King does a LOT with time travel and other dimensions in his works, so that's another possibility.

"...there are other worlds than these."

Damn, Speeps. You're picking up on subtle things i'm tragically missing. I took the paintings at face value like a 2x4 to head without "looking closlier" for a clue like that.

The B&B was pretty pointless. But i did love how it embodied the King style of people just losing their minds immediately over the influence of some manipulaton they thought they desired.

Is Jackie going to serve any real purpose? i really hope she isnt there to just "figure it all out" eventually.

What do you think for Season 2? Another new story like Fargo, or will this storyline and characters continue as the focus?

Yeah Jackie has been kind of pointless so far. Hopefully she has a bigger role to play.

I wouldn't mind if they do future seasons anthology style and have different characters and story.

So The Kid isn't evil. He's just the wrong Henry Deaver in the wrong dimension. And the universe(s) is/are trying to correct. When Henrys are locked up, things are okay. But when they're loose things go crazy.

so, there's the dark tower reference for everyone. twinners and multi-verses/other levels of the tower.

Man what a dumb fucking ending.

They almost have to keep the story going next season but I honestly don't know if I will care.

yeah, that was pretty weak to end. I would've even preferred ambiguity. the fuck did he shift into?

I thought maybe Black Henry was imagining it, but with the end and how White Henry was smiling I'm not sure. Not sure if the story The Kid told is true either.

So many wasted characters.

It's a shame.

yeah, maybe the line from Pastor Dad about how he thought he was just telling him what he wanted hear wasn't as much a throwaway. it does remind me a lot of a king-type ending. he would totally be on board with the idea that a town like castle rock and all its evils are because of some fucking creature that is usually locked up to keep things near normal, but then escapes and hell follows for a time period, and hes locked away again. like how in Derry every 27 years kids go missing because of pennywise.

Im not sure I trust the Kid anymore.

rewatched the final episode and im changing my opinion to "I like it." All the more so since I know now that the show is indeed set up for anthology style and that ending should be the end of the story. as I previously said, it has the feel of a king book ending. more so for a collection book like different seasons or full dark, no stars. its all right there in the narrations. maybe a little heavy handed, but still is open for interpretation in a good way.

but lets say the Kid is in fact evil...whats the end game for what he wants to accomplish back in the woods? what does him entering another reality gain him? would it be purely to wreak havoc on another Castle Rock? free reign to go anywhere? he could leave Black Henry's castle rock if he wanted to destroy outside the town.

hmmm...

Felt lukewarm about the ending. The multi-dimensional universe is obviously big with King, and I think they did an OK job explaining the two Henry Deavers, but there are still a lot of gaps in the characters and plot.

Reading interviews by the show creators I learned they wanted to leave the ending up for interpretation as opposed to telling everyone "this is what happened no questions asked." I appreciate and enjoy those types of open-ended finales, but I would have preferred SOME direction on what MIGHT have actually just happened.

The monster vision was just weird.

did anyone stick around for the mid-credits clip? I missed it and haven't looked back yet. apparently it has to do with Jackie.

No. I ended up going back to Henrys in the woods with the monster face because I was sure I missed something when they just went into the future the next scene.

I'll check it out.

Shes writing a story called Overlooked. Talks about family history and going out west to finish the story where it started.

Maybe she figures more in season 2.

In the Overlook...

Two episodes in. Very good so far even not being familiar with a lot of King’s work.

Through episode 5 now and this is a very strangely fascinating show. I love it. Proud of my willpower as I haven’t read any potential spoiler posts in this thread yet.

Season 2 was better than it had any right to be.

Tim Robbins as Pop Merrill was strange casting but ended up working out.

Annie Wilks is the main character this time around, and her story of how she becomes the person we see in Misery kept me entertained.

There's a tie into season 1 that doesn't totally make sense, but it doesn't ruin anything.

Worth watching I think.
