The first episode was entertaining, and the animation was very cool. I wonder if each episode will be animated the same way or if each one will be different?

Image

The first episodes features Peggy Carter, as a result of a seemingly innocuous decision, getting the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers. With a few notable exceptions (Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving) the characters are voiced by the actors who played them on the big screen.

If Captain America had America's Ass, does Captain Carter have England's Ass?

Yeah it was pretty good.

I think they all are animated the same.

First episode was a total failure, a completely missed opportunity.

The whole point of "what if" is to see how things would've turned out differently. Basically at the end of the day the only thing that turned out differently by Carter being Captain Carter is that there's no more winter soldier. That was it. Anything else was just minor and cosmetic, but led us to the same place we ended up in anyway.

They really screwed up putting the entire story in WW2. That should've been 10 minutes at most. Last I checked, Captain America did a lot of cool stuff AFTER he woke up from the ice. They should've showed how THAT stuff was affected by the change. Forming the Avengers, the relationship with Tony Stark, Civil War, End Game. They dropped the ball on all of that.

When Steve Rogers exploded with the train I thought they were going to have Steve end up being Winter Solider, but they dropped the ball on that as well.

I enjoyed what I saw from an entertainment standpoint, but I give the episode a solid failing grade because it could've and should've been a lot better and covered a lot more ground.

Looking forward to Zombies...I read the comic and it's really good.

Marvel had a series of "What If" comics back in the day. I know I had a few.

One was "What if the Avengers defeated everybody?" I remember it being great.

Yep, another terrible episode where the entire premise was laughably stupid. The whole galaxy is perfect because Black Panther is such a swell dude. How fucking stupid is that? Infinity War and End Game don’t exist because Black Panther “had a conversation with Thanos and changed his mind”.

So far this whole series is nothing but liberal propaganda.

this disgusting article pretty much sums up everything wrong tv/movie entertainment right now and why you should never take reviews at face value.

I’m not a fan of Jason Johnson as a human being.

I’m also not going to let grifters like him affect my enjoyment of this show, or my comic book fandom in general.

It would’ve wiped out a lot of box office had this come to be.

Seems like this guy is accidentally arguing that T’Challa is an asshole for not using his magical good guy powers of persuasion to stop Thanos in Infinity War.

What if? Marvel never did this series? that's the real What If. Seriously it is fine though, it is meant to be just fanboy fun. It also was presented by Feige as something that was "simple" not too deep of a series that is accessible to casual fans who just want to watch a marvel story. It still ties into the universe but blah blah blah. It dislike American Horror Stories in that sense, summer filler, with tie in's to the main arcs. I have neither hated nor really enjoyed it.

In this case it is simply filler though, you don't need to ingest this stuff if you don't want to. All the TV series you can just read a recap of what developed and you will be fine still just watching the movies, but there are plenty of people who want the constant content. The franchise is huge and Feige has made it a thing for sure. Putting out this content is a big part of the Disney + model too, which if it wasn't important before Covid (it was) it is even more important now. Thee franchise makes money and globally people want the content (this franchise has major global appeal) at the same time though you can pop in and out of the content. Wandavision, Loki and Falcon aren't must watches, the first two mentioned really setup the next phase but aren't absolutely crucial to watch, you can read a recap and be up to speed if that is your desire. Black Widow which I haven't seen isn't a must watch. You get the idea.

It wasn't all happy. So that was good.

I think the zombies one will be fine too.

It's all filler.

Episode 2

Telling us exactly what T'Challa said to Thanos to make him not go through with his plan would have been nice.

I'd like to know how The Collector got Captain America's shield and Thor's Hammer.

The over-the-top adoration for T'Challa was a bit much.

If Yondu had abducted Steve Rogers I think his impact on the Ravagers would have turned out similarly given he is as much, if not more, morally upright than T'Challa.

"Nice" Thanos was weird. Seem like he still thinks his plan isn't that bad of an idea, though.

Episode 3

Entertaining/Interesting story.

Kind of a gruesome way for Hulk to die.

I don't mind how they played Thanos in it, is was funny he kept bringing it up.

What is strange about T'Challa was as an homage to Chadwick it makes sense, but this was done before his passing. I wonder if they had him as the nice guy who saves the world before and the cited it up super nice after his passing or if this was always the plan. It is a really nice thing to do post mortem but honestly it feels like it was always the plan.
