seems to be getting a lot of talk about being a smart horror movie. I may take a little me time this weekend and go see it. Might even double dip on possession films and stick around to see if Russel Crowe's new one is decent

Sounds almost like a remake of “Shocker”.

I'd say it's more like a less sexually charged Interview with a Vampire.

I liked it. The first half or so is a pretty solid academic rundown of catholic theology regarding the demonic, as told to you by a demon. It brings a little humor with a hippie priest and his bad catechesis. The second half is a little too conveniently topical with abortion and political correctness.

The guy who played the demon was fantastic. Put it the performance right up there with James Mc Avoy in Split. Neither gets noticed because of the genre.

The psych was weakly written. He was far to easily agitated by a patient for an experienced and highly decorated psychologist. I would have liked to see him be a better adversary and get, or at least think he gets, the demon to self reflect.

They also leave far too much unexplained.

In conclusion, it's a snappy two hours. It's more than a one act play, but it feels like it. Interesting whether you are a person of faith or not. You can wait to see it on a small screen as there's nothing big about it. Worth a couple hours of your time.

Sounds awful.

It's like My Dinner with Andre, except dinner is at a prison and Andre is a possessed murderer hours from death.
