Anyone else checked out this new comedy with Bill Hader as a hitman that during a job in LA decides that he wants to try his hand at
acting? It is kind of a strange show because it isn't knockdown drag out funny but there is quite a bit of dark humor and enough to keep
the show pretty light. I am only 3 episodes in so far and I just think it is ok. Henry Winkler is in there as the acting coach and is way over
the top with his role but it seems to work. Hader does a pretty good job doing scenes as a bad actor. Only 8 episodes in the season I believe.

I caught the first episode and agree 100%. It’s almost as if the show doesn’t know what it wants to do.

Looking at the credits, this is Hader’s baby. I will give him some credit in that he’s playing the straight-man role, and letting the other characters contribute the oddball content.

I don’t know if I will keep up with it, but my takeaway from it is that Hader has it in him to play dramatic roles, and could set himself up for a Bill Murray-esque career arc.

I heard it continues to get better and much darker as the season continues.

I could see that. I really like the show. Big Bill Hader fan.

Yeah the Chechens are pretty funny. The bigger guy was the spaghetti monster from first season of True Detective.

Interesting that you compare him to Murray but now that you mention it, that's not a crazy comp. Both are underrated dramatic actors and aren't
traditional, handsome leading men. I definitely think that Hader can do dramatic roles.

Bill Hader is a national treasure, but alas and alack, I don't have HBO so I've never seen the show.

Pretty solid episode last night. It’s certainly heading down a darker path.

I am at least one episode behind. My wife and I enjoyed the scene with Winkler trying to seduce the police detective in the restaurant.
Very funny. Also enjoyed the quick cameo with Jon Hamm.

As was hinted at earlier, this show got real dark.

I have to catch up on the show this week. Is Season 1 wrapped up now?

Very much so, Doc. Did not expect Barry to do that.

There's 1 more episode, T-Bone.

It was good stuff, greg. I'm glad they didn't pull their punches, though. That is what a guy like that would do. He'd have to and they didn't hedge so that we'd like him as a character.

Bill Hader is great. One of the best SNL actors of the past 20+ years.

Caught up last night. If I had to describe this show in one hyperbolic tag line I would call it the Breaking Bad of half hour comedy shows.

Main guy already broke bad before the show started, but the way they introduce a serious criminal element into a very non criminal setting reminds me of BB.

I just hope this show remembers it is a comedy. The best part of this show is the comedy and how that allows you to drop your guard a bit before the big dramatic moment hits.

Love the bald Chechyian second in command, he's in Gotham as well. Very funny.

Binged the last 4 episodes yesterday. I echo your thoughts Doc in that the series was impressive. I have no idea where they really go from
here but I hope they do another season of it.

That was my thought too right after I finished.

But, there still is no link to him for all the shit he did this season.

The investigation of that last murder will probably take a while.

Above will no doubt impact the acting class.

Hank will definitely try to recruit Barry.

Fueches (?) will definitely be back in some way.

There's still a lot to work with.

I would think they keep the gangsters involved somehow too. That guy with alopecia kind of grew on me over the series. I figured that
Barry disposed of the body at the end but either way there would definitely be an investigation and anybody with half a brain would be able
to see that Barry has connections with all of the victims.

I figured he's going to make it look like the person disappeared, most likely kidnapped by the Bolivians. He'd have to dispose of the car and the computer, etc. I bet they could drag it out for a few episodes.

If you read the reviews of the series, Hank is like a break-out character for the critics. I will say he's the last link to most of the comedy of the show. I'm sure he'll have a bigger role next season.

I really enjoyed this show. I think I'll rewatch in a few weeks. It's an easy binge. Very short.

Great series, would not be surprised if it's only a 1 season run because of the ending. No idea how he could avoid the spotlight for the last murder.

Wouldn't be the worst thing if they only did 2 top-quality seasons. the way Brit shows ("Spaced", British version of 'The Office') often do. Might be only so much material in a lone killer doing his thing. Dexter could've shaved off a season or two. Plus Hader's probably going to be getting offers to do better films than he has to date.
