I've been looking forward to this for a long time. This has been in the works forever. There was a really bad pilot shot years ago too, this project has been through a few companies. I mean the series is in the fantasy GOAT conversation so hopefully this is a success and they do it well.

By the end of the books, they were such a slog to get through. I would never go back and reread them. He'd stretch 300 page books to 1000 pages. The show might be good though.

The last book Jordan wrote before he died was terrible - he had what G R.R. Martin has now the 'no one can edit my books but me' so they were absolute trash. The books Sanderson wrote after Jordan died were pretty good but he is a good author, so that was not surprising.

Has anyone been watching this? I started the first episode and made it maybe 30 minutes in and had to turn it off to do something and never went back to it. Wasn't sure if it is worth my time. I wasn't terribly impressed but wanted to give it 2 or 3 episodes at least.

I'm really liking it so far. It can be a little slow at times but there is a lot to setup.

Seems like a low budget Twilight version of GOT. I'm watching it...but not really enjoying it.

Saw the first episode - started slow but ended great. Love the special effects of the monsters. Looks real good. Going to try to watch an episode a night.

Ya this was the same I felt but stuck with it. That last 30 min is awesome.

Sounds like I should give it a bit more time. Didn't think a series with this potential scope should be shelved after 30 minutes but wanted to get some other takes as people haven't exactly been going bananas over it.

I did the same thing. Read the reviews and shelved it after the first 30. I thought the rock falling graphics were bad in the beginning. Someone told me to give it a chance. I started it back up and binge watched the next four episodes. Now can’t wait till Friday for the next one. Excellent story building and graphics.

Could do without the Hollywood anti men theme. I will forgive the writers, since I grew up watching testosterone movies and films.

It's GOT if you bought it on Wish.

The slowness is a problem from the books, I described the first few books that Jordan wrote as a bunch of pages of nothing happening, then something amazing happens then not much for a bunch of pages. The problem is the same problem you get in most of the series at the beginning, lots of traveling which takes lots of time.

With that in mind, I am enjoying it. My only complaint so far is that I know they are trying to make it seem like anyone - man or woman - could be the dragon reborn while the book was more specific.

the books are a grind, but nowhere near the GOT grind. I haven't started watching yet, but I will this winter.

Just wrapped up episode 6 and it is just ok. Kinda slow and having a hard time caring about the characters. They just went through that portal and left the one dude behind. I think there are two more episodes to go and no reason not to finish it. I don't hate it, I just don't love it.

That 1 character "Mat" Cauthon was left behind because in real life the actor, Barney Harris quit the show before that episode and didn't want to sign up for the long haul. In season 2 there is going to be a new actor playing the "Mat" Cauthon character.

Episode 7 at the beginning has maybe one of the most amazing female character fight scenes I have watched in any film ever. The actress in that fight scene is incredible and camera motion was just top notch..

It is always had adapting fantasy books, and the scope of these books doesn't help. However, I liked that they cut out a ton of the filler.

This scene and the stinger at the end of the last episode are great teasers for what is coming. It gives me some hope that they will portray the Aiel and Seanchan in a pretty good/interesting way.

I thought it wrapped up season 1 ok. I'll stick with it when it comes back.

I thought the series was a bit underwhelming. I'll see season 2 as its something to watch. but not must watch.

I thought Season 1 was average to slightly above average.

Season 2 has been much better. Either the budget is bigger or it is being spent wiser because it has added a lot to build the overall world similar to Game Of Thrones.

People who read books hate this show. When they complained to showrunner on Twitter about how bad it was he told them to shut up or he'd turn their favorite characters gay. Things might be changing at Amazon though the CEO has singled out the studio for how much money they're spending and how few people are watching. Shows have been getting cancelled the hag said were safe.

I gave the first episode like 30 minutes. Even without reading the books I could tell this was a bad adaptation. To be fair I'm not really into fantasy.

That's what everyone says about anything based on a book besides Forrest Gump.

I didn't hate season 1, but from what I remember it was just kinda ..... meh. I'll likely give the first episode of season 2 a run and see if it hooks me or not.

I liked these books a lot, with that said, I have enjoyed the adaptation and think the second season is much better than the first. The biggest complaint about the books was that there was so much filler and dragging things out that the show has to cut a significant portion of it and the filler gets worse until the original author dies (my least favorite book was the last one he wrote which was 800 pages of people reacting to something that happened in the previous book) and Sanderson took over to finish it.

He's doing God of War next so maybe he'll make him gay if people complain. They're doing a Fallout show that's finished or pretty close to finished...that's going to be terrible.
