Hearing it's as bad as The Irishman.

I don't think I know one person who didn't think the Irishman didn't suck.

Definitely. Just teach that book, or ones like it. Probably one of the top three books I have read in the past ten years. Someone on here recommended it!

I saw it earlier today. If you didn't read the book, it's got to be hard to follow. If you did read the book, it's a 3.5 hour drag. There's also a scene very reminiscent of the scene where Joe Pesci gets whacked in Goodfellas.

It’s a mob movie? Title makes it sound like martial arts or Native American

No I’m not gonna research it on the internet.

You're a westerns guy, right?

You've probably already read this, but if not, check out Richard Slotkin's Gunfighter Nation: The Myth of the Frontier in 20th Century America. One of my all-time favorites.

I’m stuck on Hero of Two Worlds. I got to plow through it so I can move onto something else.

I like Mike Duncan as a podcaster, but this book is a bit tedious. I will say the French Revolution never gets old though as it holds many lessons for the pitch fork and populist crowds to be careful what you wish for.

It wasn't me. You had already read the book when I posted my review in the Books thread.

This movie was mind numbingly boring and could have been told in half the time.

Watched the first 2 hours on Sunday and grudgingly watched the last 1.5 hours last night (I often stubbornly want to finish a movie or book I start). They could have made a much more compelling movie had they kept it to 2 hours.

What happened to the Osage was terrible, but they managed to present it in a way that elicited little investment in or sympathy for them from the audience. You know something bad happened, but feel largely unmoved by it.

It seems like the subject matter, rather than the movie itself, is the reason it has garnered so many award nominations.

I am enjoying the author's follow up book to this one (not a sequel or anything) about the Wager. It is a true story about a British ship expedition that went bad in the 18th Century.

If you like British history or high seas stories, it is decent.

You might enjoy Labyrinth of Ice by Buddy Levy. Its about the Greely Expedition in the Arctic. He has another, Empire of Ice and Stone about the Karluk, above the Bering Strait.

Some hard ass adventures
