Stands firmly as 1b of best singular season of TV just behind season one of True Detective.

The more I watch The Wire the worse McNulty gets

I'm not saying you are wrong but why not season 3?

Just wait until you finally get to season 5! Season 4 McNulty is great compared to Season 5 McNulty.

It's true that McNulty is especially annoying in Season 5, but that is in keeping with the way his character is developed. People seem to dislike Season 5 quite a bit, but I personally like it a lot and appreciate the way the show prepares its audience for McNulty's turn beginning in Season 1.

I like season 4 better for the school storyline. Really does a great job of world building that season 3 (which is also excellent) doesn’t have.

I also view Seasons 3-4 as one big storyline.

That's fair. I don't think you are wrong.

I just wish they could have found a way to bring Stringer Bell back for season 4.

Maybe Chris should have made him a zombie like he was doing with all those other bodies in the vacants.

I was thinking more like he comes back like a Star Wars Force Ghost to help train Marlo.

Gonna start watching the series with my wife...I believe I saw a lot of the first two seasons in and out...thoughts on whether we need to start at S1?...heard S2 or 3 was better

and now looking above it may be S4...thought it wasn't season to season development

I can't think of a worse character on a good show than Ziggy.

Watch it in reverse order from the last episode of Season 5.

Ziggy was utterly useless, he's a good actor in other roles..the writing was bad. Gabe on the office was equally useless.

Been rewatching this lately. Season 1 is really good. I am a few episodes into season 2 and I forgot how much I disliked it and Ziggy is a big part of that.

My favorite from the Wire is Season 2.

Loved the whole series....I just really enjoyed Tonka-land on the loading docks.

I thought Season 2 was fine despite Ziggy. I wondered if he was an attempt at a self-insert by Simon because the character didn't work but they kept him in. He's kind of similar to the Steve Zahn character in Treme another Simon show.
