Uh what the fuck's w/ all the quick, seizure-inducing cuts?? Oh and how convenient that the first segment of the first show, one of the contestant's twists a lower limb?? And everyone else standing around showing fake concern. I'm sad, calling bullshit right outta the gate...

Too scripted with the trash talk stuff. Maybe this could be pulled off if the Gladiators are better actors.

The gladiators sucked. I seem to remember on the original show that the gladiators were all bad ass and a lot of the contestants were lucky to score a point. The guy that did the joust disqualified himself twice.

I enjoyed it though.

I thought it was pretty good...not good enough to keep me from playing the 360 the whole time, but entertaining nonetheless...that, and I want to let Crush have her way with me...just please don't break me...at least not until I'm finished...

god, can you imagine doing the eliminator? these people are trained athletes and are completely spent at the end. how far do you guys think you can make it? i don't think i'd be able to get past the hand-bikes.

i'd love to do that treadmill thing at the end, right before a workout. how hard can that be?

Well, assuming I would be lucky enough to make it over that plank at the opening, I would be stuck trying to lift my girth up that wall...hell, I think I would even find a way to get stuck on the zip-line...

Yeah that howling thing is a lame ass shtick he's got and will get old very quickly. Also too much interviewing and talking with the contestants and their stupid trash talking attempts, probably just scripted responses but still crappy. Fun show to watch again though and will keep recording so I can forward through the BS. A couple of the women contestants and a gladiator or two are pretty hot though so if they keep it up I'll still watch. I do miss Adamle's lame ass though, Hogan is grating. And Ali used to be better looking than she is now.

It's amazing what marrying Curtis Conway will do to a girl.

Were the female contestants just above-and-beyond kick-ass or do most of the female gladiators just really suck at their job?

It seemed to be a combination of both as the females this time looked to be in much better shape than in the last series. The gladiators both men and women though looked like they hadn't trained much on the events and were seeing them for the first time. Not a very impressive showing. The trash talking either needs to end or improve greatly as it was way too forced and contrived sounding.

Nice Q&A with the gladiators of yesteryear.

So what everyone is saying is that it's American Gladiators + Battledome?

Watched 5 minutes of it tonight. I couldn't stand it.

They should have made it less like wrestling and more like a legit sport.

NBC’s remake of “American Gladiators” muscled to a strong start on Sunday. The amateur athletic tournament, based on the early 1990s series, delivered the highest ratings among adults 18 to 49 of any new show this season on any network, matching the debut of “Heroes” in September 2006, Nielsen estimated.

In total viewers, however, “American Gladiators” was less impressive, drawing an average of 12 million from 9 to 11 p.m. ABC’s “Cashmere Mafia,” by comparison, which made its debut on Sunday at 10 p.m., attracted 10.7 million viewers but markedly lower ratings in the 18-to-49 set. “Cashmere Mafia” also benefited from a plum time slot following ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” (19.8 million), the only show to outpace “American Gladiators” on the night among adults 18 to 49. ABC, NBC and CBS finished in a virtual tie for first in that demographic over all on Sunday. CBS, buoyed by an overrun of its afternoon football coverage during the 7 p.m. hour that was followed by one of the highest rated editions of “60 Minutes” in recent years (19 million), won the race in total viewers.

Yes. It was because of the football "overrun." It had nothing to do with Roger Clemens.

As far as I'm concerned, that crest leading from the hip to the fun zone is just about the sexiest thing in the world. I'm not looking for body builders, but girls with a little muscle drive me absolutely insane.

Really? Homoyoudon't.

Irish Boy, let this be a lesson in taking things out of context. Then you wonder why athletes get pissed when it happens to them.

Proof the new show is rigged? Check out this article and the video embedded at the bottom. I thought something was a little curious during those eliminators but this just confirms it more.

Hilarious!

I wondered about that myself having caught the initial one on Tivo last night.

A few other thoughts:
- The problem with the women is that the gladiators are basically the same size so they can't dominate the competitors.
- On the women's side, I agree Crush is the toughest woman and Fury is a waste of space. I think Crush is an MMA fighter.
- Also on the women's side, I hate the 'posing' they constantly do. Venom for one did quite a bit.

- On the men's side, funny I mentioned Battledome in an earlier post. Titan(Mike O'Hearn) is the former battledome Michael O'Dell and Justice (Justice Smith) was Snake.
- Wolf will be a retired bit at some point. I wonder if Hulk suggested having someone like Jim Duggan (long hair, beard, has a oooo type cheer for the crowd).
- Alex Castro(militia) is a former gay porn star (Elian Cortez). Not that it matters to the show, but my wife mentioned this last week to me.
- Allegedly, Toa is actually The Rock's cousin and occasional stand in during his career as a stunt double.

I find their evidence of an inability to fall forward, uphill on an inclined moving walkway less than convincing.

Although I would not be the least bit surprised if it was scripted.

Show seems scripted with those 'contestants' looking like they can’t make it up some treadmill on the last event. The gladiators are made to look like cartoon character/WWE Wrestlers instead of showing legit competition. ...And there is too much editing/ camera angles going on in 1 show. Right when some woman finishes her event she is out of the water doing an interview and next thing you know they jump to the beginning of the men’s event...

Hogan is definitely not natural free speaker... It seems all his questions to the athletes are scripted questions they tell him to ask.

Is the referee in American Gladiators the same guy who was the ref in Dodge Ball?

Survey says..... YES!
