I don't know the details. I'm sure they deserve more of a share however. Whatever.

I don't watch many sit coms or dramas but I'm sure most, if not all of those shows, have been written.

It sucks for late night. Letterman and Conan have to put reruns on. I saw Letterman on Friday. He bitched about being in a delema. He's in the writers guild union as well as being a producer of his own show. He said "either way I'm an ass hole."

this has happened in the past. writers are treated like shit in tinsel town, and i'm happy that they're on strike. a lot of these guys/gals have no health care, no back up system, nothing to fall back on.

you only see one or two people usually credited with writing something; in reality, 10-12 people could have written it, doctored it, etc. it's a painful life. i know some screenwriters, and my dad tried to get into the hollywood scene as well.

i must be a glutton for punishment because i want to be in show business.

i put a "shout out" to the WGA in the shoutouts section when the news broke.

The last strike, back in '88 (b4 any of you youngins was born) it lasted 22 weeks, if I remember correctly. I hope it doesn't last that long. They should just help the writers out. All they want is a share of new media money and .08 for each DVD sale instead of .04.

Yeah, Gilda Radner was scheduled to host SNL that year but the season was cut short due to the strike. Sadly by the next season her cancer had spread and she couldn't work. She never got to host SNL. Even Farley got to host SNL and he sucked.

I'm for them...but they need to get back to work ASAP. Their strike affects all of the PA's, AD's, Grips, etc...the behind the scene folks that make it happen.

Just read online that Steve Carrell has refused to film any more episodes of the Office until the strike is over. Next weeks episode is the last new one they've got.

They will just fire and replace him with Ryan.

Too bad that Ryan is also one of the writers on the show.

You must mean on that particular show because he certainly did not suck on his weekly gig.

I'm one of the few people who wasn't a big fan of Farley's. I liked a couple of his characters like the infamous Matt Foley and Bennett Brauer. A lot of his other stuff didn't click with me though.

Seriously, Carrell is a big enough star to pull this off, so Ryan won't get demoted. They stopped production.

The Chipendale's danceoff with Patrick Swayze was one of my top SNL skits of all time.

That was good too. I forgot about that one.

you always hear the impact this strike will have on TV. Won't it have an impact on movies as well?

It will but won't be as immediate because movies take longer to get rolling in production. There are already scripts in production or green lit that won't be finished until like 2009 in some cases. scripts for a lot of movie studios have most likely already been optioned, so it'll keep that market going...for a while at least.

Lots o'scripts done for movies already. They can film anytime they want, just not make writing changes.
