I have U-Verse and am looking to add-on a movie package(s). I know a lot of your opinions could be based on specific shows that each have, but based just on the movies they show, is there a difference between the HBO package and Showtime package?

Of course, in the end I may just buy the entire movie bundle and be done with it.

I'm not sure I can help you, but I'll give it a try. I have DIRECTV in my house, and it costs at least $5 a month more for Showtime & The Movie Channel, which is what I have access to. Regardless if you want Showtime & TMC, HBO or a package called STARZ!, these pay channels cost extra if you want to order them. The same holds true if you want to actually pipe into the likes of ESPNU, YES, MSG, FOX Sports Net Regionals, plus access to the likes of WCBS, WNBC, WABC & WNYW-New York & KCBS, KNBC, KABC & KTTV-Los Angeles. If you really want to watch these channels, it'll definitely cost you more per month.

HBO - Solid
Showtime - Counterculture (L Word, Californication, Weeds, Dexter) - I'm a big fan of Dexter
Cinemax - soft porn after 9PM

I have to agree with with Beef's assessment above. I have the HBO
package on Dish Network which gives me 8 HBO channels. One is in Spanish and
one is the west coast feed which works out well if I just missed
something that I wanted to watch. I notice that Starz seems to
have some good movies on there but in general HBO has some good
commercial ones, as well as documentaries and shows like Real Sports
that I really like.

HBO will forever hold a place in my heart for shows like Cathouse and Dream on.

I also thought Showtime tended to pick up all the Ice Cube, Martin Lawrence, etc. movies when they premiered on TV, but I've got nothing to substantiate this thought.

HBO's original programming has sucked since Sopranos and Entourage were at their peak.

I hope this Double A Washout turned gym coach is good, as I've got no interest in a guy with four wives. Fuck, one is more than enough.

Yes, judging by all the posts out there regarding this one
after I mentioned it, the show should be a big hit.... I am
grasping at straws looking for some decent TV and am hoping
this fits the bill for a few laughs. My expectations are low but
still hope it can hang in there. True Blood had a good first year....
