I think this show is consistently the funniest on TV. Not everything is gold but I thought last night's episode was great - the song, the doctor scenes. They pack so much in there it's easy to miss.

But last night's Alan Alda comment was great. When he sees Tracy crying and says, "A guy crying about a chicken and a baby? I thought this was a comedy show?", that was an excellent MASH reference.

Nice catch on the reference to MASH. I didn't get it so I'm now well informed.

Agreed on the quality of the show.
My favorites from last night
- Sheryl Crow speaking German
- I can go anywhere for lunch, my agent is treating, is there a sit-down quiznos nearby?
- From Peanut to President

I didn't get it at first either. I was thinking "what was the point of that joke?" Then it clicked in.

I hated that episode. It was the main thing I disliked about MASH - the heavy-handedness of some episodes for a "comedy". I've been waiting for 25 years for that joke.

The guy who plays Kenneth is so under-rated. How he stays in character with his oneliners is beyond me.

"Oh science was my favorite subject in school. Especially the Old Testament!"

Brilliant.

For some reason that line "workin' on my Night Cheese" as well as the "Fun Cooker" has stuck in the vernacular of the MUD household.

+1

The Office may have funnier moments at times, but sometimes you have to go through some slow spots or episodes. 30 Rock doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

I really like Tina Fey. I enjoyed "Baby Mama". I guess it was supposed
to be a woman's movie, but the comedy was for everyone. 30 Rock
is great. A key to any comedy, make sure everyone gets to be funny.
They do a great job of that on 30 Rock. Still I miss my All-Time favorite
comedy,The King of Queens. Jerry Stiller was hilarious as was everyone
else on that show,no matter how small the part.

30 Rock will return next season in 2010 after the Winter Olympics.

The Office thread being bumped got me thinking about this.

Is 30 Rock the most underappreciated sitcom of all time? It seems like it has pretty much been forgotten.

Just finished a rewatch of the series. Still holds up.

Big Bang Theory is simultaneously the most revolutionary and most underappreciated comedy of this--or any other--time.

I don't even remember liking this show that much.

But, now that I mention it to myself, I did.

I did stop watching after a season or two, though. Lost interest in the whole sitcom genre for the most part.

Good show, but it really lost steam the last couple seasons.

Much like Amy Schumer circa Last Comic Standing, Tina Fey didn't have anything other than a fastball...the same jokes were tired after the 1st season...

are you joking

I don't think I've ever watched a full episode but the parts that I have seen are run of the mill CBS comedy. CBS always seems to produce the most formulaic sit coms on network tv.

Tall Midget loves taking a post I made about the Big Bang Theory out of context from 8 years ago.

Then again, that's pretty much all I do here too so I respect it.

Not forgotten, just off Netflix. I think it got plenty of appreciation, it was a great show.

I agree that it lost steam at the end. The same thing happened to Kimmy Schmidt.

30 Rock was significantly better than any of the other NBC sitcoms that aired during its run.

My Name Is Earl/The Office/30 Rock/Scrubs was a really strong lineup.

Yes, 30 Rock is almost criminally underrated. There's even a Marc Trestman reference!
