Just caught Tyson , the documentary by Defiance Entertainment directed by James Toback.

All in all, I have to say it was a very well done portrait of one of the more controversial fighters of the modern era. It really gives a good insight as to what makes a person like Tyson tick.

I have to say that I am growing more fond of Tyson as he transitions from a once great (pre rape convictiom fights) to a ex champ. I really enjoyed his performance in the Hangover, and it is nice to see Tyson get himself together for lack of a better term, confront his alcohol, drug and mental issues and learn to deal with what fueled his rage for so long. In watching the documentary, I have to ask myself "what if?", the big what if for Iron Mike is what if Cus D'amato had been younger when he met Tyson as he got out of the New York prison system and had been around longer to continue to be a focusing role in Tyson's life. When Cus died, the problems for Iron Mike seemed to commence and snowball into the bigger problems that faced Mike later in life.

The documentary is a 3 star, good investment of 90 minutes if you have some time to kill.

I loved it. You are dead on in regards to Cus D'amato. A part of Tyson died when Cus did. The rest of him went when his promoter died. (I'm blanking on whether it was Jacobs or Cayton)

I really like this doc. I think Cus was the only man Mike ever really respected and looked up to and Cus took Mike in like a son which looked like something Tyson never had in his life before. When D'Amato passed away so did the guidance that Mike needed in his life. He really did have all the skills to be one of the best boxers in history

Very good documentary. Once you get past the mumbling nature of Tyson's monologue, you start to really see a person that many boxing fans might have never seen before. The mental effects of all that he has been through (and put himself through) is rather evident, even down to the revelation of seriously skewed social ideals.
