Anyone watch the premier episodes of this show on AMC? A remake of the 1960s series, except this one stars Gandalf and Jesus.

I've never seen the original but had heard much about it. I gave this a shot and feel asleep. Didn't make much sense, wasn't interesting. It got pretty poor reviews and I'd agree. You didn't miss much.

That said, I'd still like to see the original. Most of the reviews I read after I watched it said it paled in comparisons to the original. I've still got 3 hours on DVR that I probably won't bother with.

i am a fan of both the original and of the remake. i think they have done a good job of recreating the weirdness of the village, and i cant imagine another actor who embodies the part of number 2 like ian mkellan. i was worried about how bad it could be, but i think they really did a good job, and they have a couple pretty funny "throwbacks" to the old show that make you chuckle.

i recently watched the entire original series on on demand, 17 episodes. 6 of them are classics, another couple are ok, but the remainder were pretty unwatchable. the last few were really bad. the whole idea had grreat promise, but it got way to trippy and obscure at the end. it never seemed like they really took the story as far as they could have.
