Let's face reality for a moment. Wayne Brady is NOT Monty Hall, nor will he ever be. Although Monty co-created the classic game show with longtime partner Stefan Hatos in the late '60s and hosted the show on ABC from 1969-77 plus in syndication from 1984-86, his fingerprints are still all over it as a consultant behind the scenes on the new CBS version. I don't know if the set turns you off or Wayne's personality towards the contestants dressed in costume like on the original.
The reason why CBS decided to revive the classic game show is because the network cancelled the long-running daytime soap "Guiding Light" after some 5 decades on its air. I don't think CBS wanted to give that hour of daytime back to their affiliates, which in Chicago was 9a Monday-Friday, head-to-head vs. a certain five-letter talk show juggernaut starting with the letter "O". Another daytime soap is also about to be shutting down production for good in 2010, and that's "As The World Turns". It's unclear what will fill the void once "ATWT" signs off next year.
