I wouldn't expect many people to go out of their way to see this one.
I happened to catch it on Saturday evening. Read a short article about
it in EW and wanted to see what it was all about. Basically it was the
story of a young autistic woman growing up in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
She has a love for animals and after spending a summer with on her
aunts farm before heading to college, makes a profound discovery for
herself that helps her cope with her autism. She goes on to become a
crusader for animal rights by designing more efficient slaughter houses
believe it or not.

Like I said, probably not interesting for everyone but I was really drawn
in by the story and the acting. Being based on a true story made it
that much better for me. Not knowing anything at all about autism
was the main reason I wanted to watch this. My wife is a 6th grade
teacher and deals with autism daily and felt the performance was good
and tried to help explain it to me a bit more. In any case, if you happen
to get HBO and are looking for an offbeat biopic with some good acting
and good actors, you could do worse than to spend 90 minutes watching
this touching and interesting movie.

I watched this last night. As I started, I wasn't sure that I really wanted to but I thought it was really well-done and interesting.

I don't think it's for everybody and I probably wouldn't go so far as to recommend it unless you are really interested in the subject matter. But, they really got many small things exactly right IMO and I thought the way they visualized her thought processes was fascinating.

I had never heard of this woman before but I'd like to find out more about her.

Claire Danes did a really nice job. I'm sure she'll win some awards for that performance.

Definitely not for everyone. I also enjoyed how they tried to visualize the autistic
mind and way of thinking. I looked into her a little more and found out that she got her
doctorate from the University of Illinois. Growing up a little bit in Champaign I know that
Illinois has a really good veterinary school, so the fact that she graduated from there made
it that much more interesting for me.

Well, they really buried the headline in that story, then.

there's a little "temple grandin" in every hamburger you eat, so to speak.

Was nice to see this movie and lead actress pick up an Emmy statuette.
I am sure they will be replaying this on HBO now that it has won some
awards. Still recommend it for those interested in the subject matter.
Very well acted and interesting story.
