One of my favorite charactars in pop culture is the original "Superman",Doc Savage. His books were like part Sherlock Holmes, part Captain America. He is the subject that Indiana Jones was based on. Many pulp novels are out there,if your interested. Hollywood tried in 1975 to make a movie about him. It was more like a Batman TV show take off. Word comes now they are trying again.

Looks like Columbia Pictures is readying the pulp action hero Doc Savage, of the similarly titled comic series, for a film adaptation.
Having already conquered TV, film, and radio back in the 30s and 40s, Doc Savage cuts an impressive figure as equal parts Indiana Jones, Sherlock Holmes, and the doctor your mom always wanted you to grow up to be. And if that doesn't impress you, there are even hints of some Bruce Wayne big bucks (Savage owns countless cars and airplanes, as well an office in the Empire State Building) and Superman tendencies (Savage vacations at his chilly Fortress of Solitude), to pique your interest.
Attached to direct the Doc Savage movie is Shane Black, of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Lethal Weapon fame. He'll also work on the screenplay with the help of Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry.
