On the night the Blackhawks lay a huge egg vs. the Canucks at United Center in Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference Semifinals, many Chicagoans actually tuned into a special edition of "Svengoolie" on WCIU 26 The U. Chicago's legendary horror movie host featured a gem from the "Master of Suspense", the late, great Alfred Hitchcock, 1963's masterpiece "The Birds".
While this digitally remastered movie classic starring Rod Taylor & Tippi Hedren won its time slot last Saturday night, "U" are in luck if "U" missed out on seeing one of Hitchcock's signature films. "Sven" will feature a rebroadcast of "The Birds" at his regular time, Saturday, May 15th at 9p, presented in crystal clear HD where available. If "U" missed it the first time, "U" better not miss it again. Sorry, folks, I can't help myself. According to the film's distributor, now known as NBC Universal, this classic Hitchcock movie will NOT be broadcast anywhere for at least 3 years after "Svengoolie" replays "The Birds" May 15th.
Caught a bit of it while at Balmoral on Saturday while flipping through channels between races. It had alot of birds in it.
