I can remember some of the great vampires of old Dracula, Count Dracula, Count Cholcula, Blackula, etc etc etc, but when did this recent trend of horny bi teen vamps become so popular? I do watch True Blood and enjoy it, but when I see commercials for this movie or Show? Eclipse? I don't even know what it is and especially when I see it on my BK coke cup, of a freaky looking pale, bowl cut, dark lipstick, spock looking, freak. The whole thing is just freaky.

Apparently there is a show on ABC called The Gates that has vampires in it
as well. Never bothered to tune in to watch. No idea where all of it came
from. I have been watching and enjoy True Blood as well, but I am pretty
sure that all this Twillight stuff proceeded that show, if not with the movies,
the books were definitely written a while back. I am sure it will fade from
sight within a few years. Personally I am looking forward to a series about
sports message board cretins. It may have to go to HBO if said cretins
happen to be pantless.

I'm not sure when it started, but I can tell you that there is a practically endless supply of books/book series about vampires/werewolves/shifters/fairies and any combination of. They are my wife's guilty pleasure after the kids are in bed and she needs to veg out for a little while. I'd bet she's read 8-10 different series (probably more), some of which have 10+ books in them. I know she's read the 'Twilight' books (she said much, much better than the movies), the 'True Blood' stuff, some series where every title is a play on Clint Eastwood movies???, and many others. Go to a bookstore and there will be entire sections that are all vampire, etc.
