I'm not sure there are many fans of this show, but with the new Seth Rogen/Cameron Diaz movie based on the DC Comics superhero hitting theaters across America Friday, January 14th, the short-lived TV series is getting a couple of spins next week.

SyFy, the NBC Universal-owned channel that used to be called SciFi on DIRECTV 244, will be presenting a marathon of the short-lived TV series Tuesday, January 11th starting at 9a, three days before the movie hits theaters. Then, WWME 23, the Weigel-owned independent known as MeTV and those stations along the new MeTV Network, will present a similar "Green Hornet" marathon starting at 10a.

The short-lived series aired on ABC for 1 season in 1966-67 with only 26 episodes. Van Williams starred as the superhero and "Daily Sentinel" publisher Britt Reid with Bruce Lee co-starring as "Kato" the sidekick. The show did feature a killer instrumental theme by Al Hirt, along with narrator William Dozier, who did the same thing on another superhero series back then. That was "Batman", which aired from 1966-68 and starred Adam West & Burt Ward as the "Caped Crusaders".

Thanks for the heads up Shark. I've always been a fan of the groundbreaking action star, Bruce Lee. RIP

Britt Reid related to the Lone Ranger

SHARK made an error:
In March 2009 Dynamite Entertainment announced it had acquired the license to produce Green Hornet comic books.[21] Its first release was a miniseries written by Kevin Smith.[22][23] Revamped in 2010 as an ongoing series set in modern times, the new Green Hornet stars Britt Reid Jr., the rebellious and spoiled son of Britt Reid Sr., now a retired industrial and family man. When Britt Sr. is slain by the Black Hornet, a yakuza mobster whose family was shamed by the original Green Hornet, the aging but still fit Kato returns. With his daughter, Mulan Kato, who has taken over the costumed identity of her father, he brings Britt Jr. to China for training and safekeeping as he becomes the new Green Hornet. Writer Jai Nitz is also writing Green Hornet: Parallel Lives, a miniseries prequel to the 2011 Green Hornet feature film.[24]
