Startin' it early. It's Oscar Day. And this could be an historically bad one. I cannot imagine these hosts being interesting, although I have a thing for Anne Hathaway. Good for James Franco for growing up from being Daniel Desario to Oscar host, but i don't see them being all that entertaining. I'll predict this will be worse than Hugh Jackman's hosting.

I already posted my predictions in another thread but i'll go ahead and stick to my guns...however, I will say "The King's Speech" has gotten a lot of press lately and it could be a sleeper sweeper tonight. I'd rather see that than the goddamn "Social Network". But anyway -

Supporting Actor - Christian Bale
Supporting Actress - Melissa Leo
Best Actor - Colin Firth
Best Actress - Natalie Portman
Best Adapted Screenplay - "The Social Network"
Best Original Screenplay - "Inception"
Director - David Fincher
Picture - "The Social Network"

i have a feeling "king's speech" may win best screenplay. if it does, i believe it will inevitably sweep. but soreass will still get adapted.

I was kidding about the drinking part but she is excited. She already went to the store picked up her favorite candy and wine though.

My wife loves all the "red carpet" stuff so I just set the DVR. I think there's more Oscar pre-game than the Superbowl. Between "E" and ABC, I there's around 8 hours of crap.

I usually like the Oscars, but I'm not sure about this year. I just don't care or haven't watched many of the movies.

My wife loves this crap too. Her excitement is a little tempered this year because we've seen exactly two movies that have been nominated:

Toy Story 3
How to Train Your Dragon

To me it is pretty boring no matter what. I'll be watching the Hawks.

yeah i'm watching this out of pure tradition. i've watched every oscars since 1990. and yeah, the red carpet stuff is brutal and extremely saturated.

I mean if you're married I can understand that, but there's the hawks and a Knicks vs Heat game on tonight too.

:?

I'm married, so......

but I could think of a very long list of things I'd watch, and then a list of books I'd read, before I would get to any regular season NBA game without the Bulls in it. Even with the Bulls, there's a decent sized list.

Wow this James Franco was nervous and unfunny on the preshow interview.

Why isnt Justin Timberlake hosting this thing? He'd be perfect. Dude is funnier than most comedians and he hits a ton of demograhics.

Franco is going down, we'll see if he takes Anne Hathaways nice ass with him.

I think he'll be universally panned and she'll be seen as decent.

They could have found a more obscure name to host. If they tried really hard. I have no idea who this Franco dude is - but I know he's in the 127 movie now. Horrible choice for host.

The problem with the Oscars vs. other awards shows is that nobody tries to have any fun. Everyone is so damn serious and polite and there is so many tears that you'd think it was a damn funeral. WAY to stuffy.

Look I just think he's the best entertainer period right now

He could host the tonight show and be good.

But they played the Franco interview where he was sweating and made a terrible joke about guessing what he's wearing to an interview with Timberlake where he was caught off guard with a comment about following him on the red carpet and he parlayed it into a hilarious two minutes

Ill give you the Oscar host thing, but when he restores the Tonight Show to Carson levels...that's gonna be all me

My sleeper would be "Black Swan" for Best Picture. I didn't see a whole lot of the Best Picture nominees but Black Swan was one of the more creepier and dark movies I've seen in a while. Portman should win for Best Actress.

I don't think a lot of people on here really liked it but I thought it was great.

"source code" = "inception" for 2011!
